City of Cavefell

The "RUNA campaign" takes place in the Fifth Era of Evera, when the events of the Fourth Era cause the Core and the Elemental Plane of Fire to merge, hopefully only temporarily...
On the borderland between the Core and the Elemental plane of Fire, where the dividing line between the two realms is blurred, there is a town with a troubled history.

Cavefell was a trading city where the Deep-dwelling Humans, the Bena elves and the Azers (Dwarves on the realm of Fire) lived in relative peace for a long time. The Humans bulit a huge cathedral to the Dragon Goddess, the Elves made a smaller temple to Glysaris. The Azers built a temple for Jomril, the Father of Stone, near the workshops.

When Pandora and with her, Castien, were banished to the Elemental Plane of Fire, many of their priests followed to the outer plane them. They offered power and magic that only Firedragons and Demon Lords were capable before. Many of the Bena elven nobles liked to increase their personal influence their world, ant the teachings of the priests soon reached Cavefell too. The former Glysaris temple was converted into a Shrine of Pandora. This caused an offense between the noble families. A few of them, like the Xilro family, clung to the traditions of their people, bur their efforts proved little.

A few years later, the Beasts, a primitive, deep-dwelling race of the Segaii, began to methodically attack and exterminate the priests of the new, evil deities. The war, as earlier the proselytes before, caught up with the inhabitants of Cavefell. Most of the townspeople fled to the Cathedral of the Dragon Goddess, which was already ruined, but whose walls still provided protection for the faithful.

The fighting only ended, when the Beasts besieged the Pandora Shrine, and killed the last Castien priest. By then, the everyday life in the rest of the city began to settle down, although not without some changes. Soon after the arrival of the foreign priests, the Azers left the town, and the Jomril temple, left unguarded, was appropriated by the leader of the Beasts, as his own "meadhall" from where he "rules the city" with his best warriors. Most shops and workshops have returned to production, and the merchants are trying to teach the Beasts about money and trade. So far, all that been achieved is that "there is yellow (gold), gray (silver) and red (copper) coins, and you must give them for exchange of the goods".

I love the fact that the Cathedral of the Dragon Goddess protected those who needed it even as a ruin. Very lovely article! Makes me curious to read more about your world :)

Very impressive that you produced such a compelling story, full of action and adventure, tragedy and triumph, in such a small space! And writing in a second language no less! This was a wonderful tale, and gave me a remarkable glimpse into your world! I want to read more.   May I be so bold as to guess your first language is Hungarian? (I have a culture in my world based upon the Magyar, so have done some research into the language).

Thank You! Yes, I'm Hungarian. It usually appears in the word order. Hungarian ethnography/folklore is extremely rich, a very good choice, and I am glad that it inspires You too.
