Naagaea (Nahg A ah)

Naagaea, or Naaga are a race of snake people that live In multiple environments across Eveynjar. They are known to be shrewd merchants, powerful hedge mages, and amazing enchanters. That being said, there is more to them than meets the eye.   Personality wise, Naagaea are friendly and welcome all to their homes. That being said, they do this to keep tabs on ally and foe alike, as they are the slyest of all the races. And if their guest proves to be dangerous, their entire bodies can quickly become weapons, constricting their enemies with their powerful vertebrae or delivering a paralyzing bite that can leech life from the target.   Naagaea do this only if necessary, as they are prone to injuring themselves if their attack attempts fail. So, Naagaea are calculating out of necessity.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Each ethnicity of Naagaea possesses different morphology
  • Pythoeus: Pythoeus are a tribe on Non-venomous Naagaea native to the warm, tropical sub-tropical regions of Eveynjar. Resembling Pythons and Boas, they are the strongest of the tribes, able to squeeze the life out of any enemy caught in their coils. Due to their amazing and great size, Pyotheus have a passive Intimidation and they know it.
  • Colupoulos: Colupoulos are a tribe of slightly-venomous to highly-venomous Naagaea native to all temperate, tropical, and arid regions of Eveynjar. Due to their resemblance to colubrid snakes, they smaller than other Naagaea, and are rear-fanged. With this in mind, when they bite and try to swallow food or an enemy's arm, they can inject a paralytic poison into the flesh of an enemy.
  • Elapipuli: Elapipuli are a tribe of highly-venomous Naagaea native to tropical and arid regions of Eveynjar. Due to their resemblance to elapid snakes (like cobras, coral snakes, death adders, and sea kraits), Elapipuli can have different structures that give them advantage. Cobra-esc Elapipuli have massive hoods that give them a threatening aura, as well as the ability to spit venom at enemies. Coral snake and sea krait Elapipuli are adept at swimming and deal additional poison damage with any attack that deals poison damage. Death adder Elapipuli can cause paralysis to enemies who are injected with its venom.
  • Vipecotl: Vipecotl are a tribe of highly-venomous Naagaea native to all temperate, tropical, and arid regions of Eveynjar, With their resemblance to vipers and pit-vipers, Vipercotl are lightning-fast, and they can bite as a reaction if need be, but only a number of times per long rest. Some Vipercotl possess structures on their tails, such as rattle-snake rattles or lures to attract prey. They also have a heat-sense ability that allows them to detect targets that possess endothermy.
  • Xenotsuchi: Xenosuchi are a tribe of non-venomous Naagaea native only to Kalukkenjar. With their resemblance to Xenopeltid snakes, their scales appear dragon-like and possess an iridescent hue, however this is rarely seen due to their nocturnal disposition. With this in mind, they often are seen as merchants and cooks who work only at night.
  • Madtsoraka: Madtsoraka are a tribe of non-venomous Naagaea native to tropical and arid regions of Eveynjar and Northern Valoreum. These Naagaea resemble Madtsoiid snakes, which somewhat resemble pythons and boas with little legs. These limbs often appear as nubs, but can sometimes be fully formed and able to semi-support the Naagaea. Of all the tribes, Madtsoraka are the rarest to see in Eveynjar.

Growth Rate & Stages

Naagaea are born from leathery eggs and have an incubation period similar to human gestation. Naagaea mature around age 15 and live a lifespan similar to humans.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Naagaea mostly require live food that they swallow whole. When this prey is domesticated, they are often gut-loaded so the Naagaea gets the most nutrition out of a meal. This can sustain a Naagaea for up to a month.

History

Descended from Druimaeic ancestors, Naagaea are one of the main colonizers of Hallojar, and once supported an sprawling empire in the early days after the Fall of Valoreum. However, as other peoples in the area became more advanced and powerful, the Naagaean empire quickly collapsed, with the remnant of that once great empire being the modern Hallojar, the Land of the Snakes.
