as of 10YBCW the professional army stands at 50000. in times of conflict the army has risen to half a million.
within the ranks of the army seithmathur (magicians) are trained to wield all times of known magic. they are trained seperate from the army an are used mostly as shock troops.
Equipment
when the Northern isle kingdom was made up of raiders most of the men whore thick leather body Armour for the most of the men to keep them warm in the cold northern sea.during medieval time most of the infantry stayed the same but they accepted the knightly traditions of the southern nations and knights of the northern isle wore full plate Armour. however they where never knighted or where refered to as sir.
another thing which the northern isle armies used war bears if they where fighting long campaign as the Continental armies never saw bears the size of horses. due to the tenants of the faith of winter and seawore
During the 18 years war the infantry wore lighter amour like most of the other nations. there cavalry was very light with some units having no Armour at all. they where the first nation to introduce mass units of powder weapons.
the blue and yellow- when the army was refromed under George olinberg 1st the idea of a unifrom was put to the jarlthing. but it wpuldnt be till late 390YBCW that the northern army would be given a unifrom. inspired by the frankish blue unifrom the army adopted a dark blue and yellow. soldiers from both sverka and norga wore this unifrom and the tricorn hat which became standard issue.
the war of shame and the refroms- after the defeat in the years of shame, the army needed drastice refrom.
the army's inform is a dull grey. men were serves caps. depending on which island they live on can depend on what colour trim on there uniforms they have. norge is yellow sverka is teal blue.
Weaponry
the early weapons of the isle were either great swords or great axes. most used axes.
Reavers used fire as a weapons when raiding the coastal towns of the northern badlands and the verianberg empire. most of the army used round shield which could be put on the side of there long ships. this was carried on into the navy with the most modern ships having wooden shields as protection in honor to there ancestors.long axes where the main weapon used by housecarls. it was mostly nobles who had the ability and training to use swords.
during the 18 years war the northern isle preferred to use swords and rifles instead of spears like there enemy's. there cannons where small and could be carried by mules.
the ozford arms company produce all of the army weapon which include saber, muzzle loading rifles, muzzle loading cannons. they have some breach loading weapon bought from the sultans imperial arms company. the large cannons can be drawn by Sverkan Snow bears
Structure
during the earliest days. a king would call on his jarls to raise there hosts. these host would be commanded by the king, jarls and hersir (the northern equivalent to master at arms.)
there are two main command hubs each situated in the capital citys of norge and sverka. for all intensive purposes they act a separate army's and have to supply and arm them selves.
Tactics
the army likes to raid and attack with speed since the days of the first kings and co kings. reaving carried on through the long years attacking down rivers like The dranavan river and The river of kings.
Training
the faith of winter and sea preaches the need for strong warriors. during the days of reavers almost every man on the isle knew how to weild an axe and defend himself with a shield.

during winter the army is able to transport small amounts of supply's on skis.
skiffs are used in winter to transport supplies.
over long distances they use trains and horse draw carts.
History
known as the royal army in the isles it was it unknown even by them selves when the army was formed. like most nations men raised armies from there lands and would raid up and down the rivers. local lords raised units from there lands who would go with them anytime any where. many of Arch-kings armies had a core of housecarls. housecarl being the special bodyguards of the local lords and are the professional soldiers given the best equipment and weapons.
they as the nation was a island archipelago the army became neglected in favor of the nations navy. it didn't take part in The war of Men and the 'Old' races . the army has sent several expedition lead by the navy to the northern badlands. for a long time the main ship of the navy was the longship of which the largest where the dragon head drakkars.
during the 18 years was the army continued to raid and inflict massive defeats and bloody tolse on the verainberg army. they fought a lighter style of war with swords instead of spears.
during the grand military revolution the army focused on bettering there ability to fight conventional wars and learned from the lessons of the 18 years war, like most army they adopted the extensive use of gun prouder weapons. however there troops still kept either a short sword or an axe as a close combat weapon. part of the reform was that they wanted to become more continental and so they adopted an new uniform however these were not widely introduced until the reign of king Hans Olinberg 4th and due to the influence of the queen the army got new uniform a kin to that of the Frankish army. the army were given the same uniforms of blue and gold but there hats had yellow for norgens and teal blue for sverkans. during the war of the duel alliance's the royal army was deployed to bretinberg and to the Continent to fight along side emperor Joachim Le Bonaparte 3rd.
the years of shame saw the army utterly ruined and saw it to be reorganized in the following years. they were given proper training and arms. by this time the unfirom had been changed for better concealment.
during the heliogland uprising at the start of the kaff hallberg war the king and co king sent advisors.
