the years of shame

the years of shames was the name given to the conflict were the northern isle attempted to occupie the proviece of heilgoland and take it from the verianberg empire. it resulted in a civil war between conflicting family's in the the northern isle kingdom

The Conflict

Prelude

king karl 5th was a man of action. he wished to be the man to unit the isle with heilogoland and the badlands.
he made preparations. he introduced conscription and blustered the army ranks from 100000 to 500000. he got his general together. they wanted to spilt the forces in 2 meaing that they more constation and they could fight the larger The verianberg imperial army with more troops. however karl wanted to split the forces in fave and spread them across the region more effectively. he staff strong disagreed with the prepolal . the king solved this by executing his rivals already puting him at karls younger bother the co king gustaf tried to make him see reason but karl had made his mind up.

The Engagement

northern invasion in the dead of night the 1 norga flotilla bombarded the far north verianberg naval base destroying the fleet anchored there and landed a battalion of marines. at the same time 12000 men of 7th corp landed on the asmangar archipelago. the lord  of the isle lord morwentar organised the defense of the isle withdrawing all forces to the capital of the isle and reading it for siege. there similar engagement across the coast. the govoner general of heilgoland however didn't panic. he withdrew his forces south then requested reinforcement.  his forces numbered some 20000 men.  the imperial government obliged and the 2nd imperial army with units of Szlski cavalrymilitaryoffensivepositioncontinueddespite
battle of brougon-the battle of brougn was the death nail for the northern invasion. the central northern army was exposed to the full wight of the 2nd imperial and the mortjizan army. karl lead the army personally. his leading general said that it would be better to build defenses but karl refused and wanted to go on the attack. by dawn the two army meat. the northern cavalry was thrown in first destroying several artillery battery before being destroyed. then the full wight of the northern army fell upon the 2nd imperial army. this however was a massive mistake. the mortizjan army sent it infantry to attack the northern flanks. after about an hour the flanks bulked and broke. seeing that there  lords army was going to be destroyed karls generals ordered a retreat. karl countermanded this but he was ignored. this battle sounded the end of the heilgoland campaign. 
civil war
after the war karl returned home. to find his local lords in rebellion. his brother gustaf ( who had returned to the isle after ovista) was trying to hold the kingdom together with what ever troops he would find. when the solider returned many joined the lords that they once swore allegiance to. karl tried to hold on to his army. he and his brother had around 170000 men and most of the navy. on the other hand the lords who were rebelling had around 200000 men.
battle of algaonhagin- the rebel and loyalist army met on the island of algaonhagin. the rebels had 50000 and the loyalist had 35000. the battle started at dawn in the morning mist. the loyalist artillery opened fire on the town of lotian. soon in waves of 2000 the loyalists attack the town. the rebels soon found that they were being attack by the main loyalist force. the towns garrison of 10000 was surrounded and either killed of captured. by lunch time the rebels had reach the town. the loyalist had dug in as best they could and they had the backing of there fleet. by late eveing the two had engaged in fighting. the line battle soon grew into an stalemate. the loyalist commander ordered an attack and were able to break the rebels and were able to force the force to surrender.
loyalist victory-by the year 48YBCW the war was Turing in karl and his brothers favor. the rebels spirt had been broken but a corp of 40000 rebels under the duke of veofold  stood strong. he controled the entire southern part of the norgan island and had suport from the revani-northerns of the new revani isles.  last battle of the war lasted for 3 week the dukes army refusing to surrender until the duke was killed defending the walls of his capital.
