From the sky, The Solemn Lament appears to be a strip mine carved into the surface of Ayun-Ausralia, as one gets closer, viscera, scrap and threats suggest an act of great violence occured.

Purpose / Function
Intially construced as an extreme, low maintenance prison, now the complex houses one of the larger tribes of Ayun-Ausralia's Nasyk population. During operation, The Solemn Lament held upwards of 150,000 prisoners at the Somnancy's pleasure. An unknown amount of Nasyk populate the ruin, with the exact number unavailable due to interference from the rocky structure and the aggressive nature of the hole's occupants.
Alterations
Various tribal markings, corpses and metallic debris serve to ward travellers and curious individuals away from the former prison. Near the prison are a variety of signs and writtings in saza that carry warnings and threats in equal measure, the most common of which alternate between some form of 'Stay Away' and 'The Somnancy Lied' before devolving into more basic forms, such as the nigh-illegible 'HATE' scrawled across one of the prison's main entrances.
Architecture
The Solemn Lament was constructed in a utilitarian manner, boring into the surface of the planet. The closest architectural style it resembles is Edenic Ancient Roman. Metal fixtures and light insulation keep the structure from being entirely icy rock, while the lights installed during construction appear to be either absent or repurposed.
History
When Ayun-Ausralia was settled by Somnolent forces, low security convicts and enlisted men were employed in the various methan refineries, food production and resource management. Higher security inmate needed an innovative means of keeping them away and miserable. Thus, a borehole was dug into the planet's surface to serve as the ultimate in low-effort prisons.
