Uranus & Neptune: The Useless Twins

Uranus

Despite being an immense planet with 27 natural satellites orbiting it, Uranus itself is considered to be relatively non-valuable as a planet. Its surface is frozen water polluted with toxic substances, such as methane and ammonia, and the atmosphere is many times thicker than earth's planet's entire diameter, making any sort of rocket launches expensive and dangerous.

Neptune

Being slightly smaller than Uranus, Neptune has been named Uranus's twin due to the striking similarities between each planet. It was once thought that Neptune would be an ocean planet, containing seas deeper than anything humanity has ever explored. However, upon closer investigation the composition of Neptune is nearly identical to Uranus, even having a large number (14) of mundane satellites.

Geography

The surface of Uranus & Neptune comprises ice hidden under a thick blanket of Helium and Hydrogen. It's unknown as to the exact geography of the planet below, as it would be nearly impossible to send probes down to the surface with enough power to get back out; and any Space-Rending technology that one could use would be interrupted due to the high atmospheric pressure of the planet.

Natural Resources

Uranus and Neptune are rich in ammonia, methane, hydrogen, helium, and water. Ironically, none of these resources are practical to obtain due to these planets' extreme conditions. What can be found on these planets can be found more readily available within the Kuiper Belt or Oort Cloud and on Jupiter.
