Sol: Our Great Sun
The essence of life itself, the giver of energy to all who live in the system, and humanity's greatest resource. The sun is used to produce energy for most space stations in the solar system, a constant beacon for all space-rending travel, and a constant reminder of how small we are in such a vast, awe-inspiring, and dreadful universe.
Geography
The sun itself is a ball of elements compressed together to the point of fusion, rendering it's surface completely unliveable. Surrounding it, however, can be seen thousands of space stations. Some used for habitation, others used to grow food; while some are designed for the sole purpose of energy collection via solar panels.
Natural Resources
The sun contains vast amounts of resources. Some you may expect, such as Hydrogen, Helium, etc. Others include heavier elements that are unable to be fused, such as Iron, Nickle, and even Uranium and Gold. Every moment, the sun burns off tons of it's own mass, a small fraction of which is re-captured and used by the Terrans for nearly everything, however the Terran's technology isn't quite to the point where they can efficiently Starmine. Most of the sun's finite resources evaporates into space, never to be seen or used again.
