The Bifrost Portal Hub
Government
The Bifrost Hub possesses no true governing body, instead relying on a combination of FTS law and the corporate regulation and policy to govern the employees that permanently live there.
Defences
The station is constantly guarded by a Fleet of FTS naval vessels, and has its own security force of privateers, consisting mostly of frigates and destroyers. The station itself is guarded by quad-layered planetary class shields as well as arrays of heavy railgun batteries, missile and torpedo batteries, and point defense lasers. Even without such drastic defensive measures, the thought of disrupting this station is nigh unthinkable -given it would draw the ire of every faction within the FTS. The consequences would be enough to practically unite all of humanity in that individual's or faction's eradication.
Industry & Trade
The primary source of income for this station, and the corporation that owns it, is the toll fees they collect for any ships that pass through. These fees are based on the tonnage of the ship itself, the tonnage of the cargo it carries, and the number of passengers on board. Secondary sources of income come in the form of sales tax collection from its city-sized population, Tourists, and Spacers passing through.
Infrastructure
For those who live on the Hub, whether they're temporary visitors or the employees that live there, enjoy extremely high standards of living for relatively modest prices.
Shipowners and merchants can enjoy the station's state-of-the-art shipyards, repair stations, and even a massive trading hub.
Assets
The Hub itself is the station's most valuable asset, granting it immense amounts of money, trade traffic, and a priceless strategic resource.
Tourism
The Bifrost is one of many buildings that individuals see when on their Pigrimage to the Terran System. Many consider it to be a marvel of engineering and science, and is typically the highlight of their journey. "It's all downhill from here" is a common phrase pessimists and critics of this pilgrimage often spout when they see pilgrims on their journey.
"So grandiose are our capabilities that we must turn to the gods of ancient mythos, and their creations, to describe what we have now. Space itself bends to our whim, what will happen when we can do the same with time?"Grand Matriarch Gwendolynn of Fleet Aigon
Architecture
The most striking feature of this base is its unorthodox architecture. It appears to be a massive grid of interlocking honeycombs arranged in a hyper lattice. Massive spines jut out from the end of each honeycomb, tipped with magnetic stabilizers to funnel the sun's plasma into massive fusion reactors used to fuel the portal and all connected portals. A massive gun-like construction hovers above the main station, housing the station's exotic particle driver used to spark new space rends in distant solar systems.
