King's Shadows
Due to the rarity of dark racial magic, there has always been an occult secret society bringing these casters together. Further into the past, the Shadows served and worshipped Zalikar directly and many of their traditions stem from this. However, when King Ambrose Syltharis developed an interest in this element, Ghislaine brings him into their fold and placed him as their leader. With the full endorsement of the royal family, they began serving Ambrose's interests. Ambrose became the 'Shadow King' of this group, all other members taking up different positions within the hierarchy. Though the group is far less secretive than it had been in the past, despite those in the know pretending otherwise, membership became sought after under Ambrose's favor. Those within the group are well taken care of--it became a prestigious honor to be recruited.
Ambrose uses the Shadows to serve his personal ambitions and to bring together the best dark casters in the kingdom. However, only the core members of this group understand Ambrose's true ambitions. They work in the background of the kingdom undertaking the less glamorous, less public tasks to grease the wheels of progress for the kingdom's expansion. They also take on roles which are less than legal, the most controversial of tasks. Finally, they idolize Zalikar, the source of their abilities, and work to further Ambrose's goal of achieving both immortality and becoming Zalikar's host. There are those within the society, who were members before Ambrose ever showed interest, whose goals are reviving and honoring the Dark King himself. To these members, Ambrose is a pretender and tool for restoring their master.

Structure
There are five figures who follow Ambrose directly while the remaining members take orders from one of these five. There is one figure for each of Zalikar's aspects: Shadow, Void, Despair, Fear and Unknown. Ambrose represents Zalikar himself.
These five take on specific titles which relate to their abilities and aspect. There are a number of potential titles for each position to choose from.
Demography and Population
Many members originate from the southern portion of the Eluzian Valley, the Festering Swamp and the Tenebrous Chain. There are also a number of members from the court of the Kingdom of Accia, a number of nobility whose ancestors fled into the valley during Zalikar's exterminations.
