Siptalis
Siptalis is an aspect of Zalikar and is the embodiment of despair, sorrow and dysphoria, a mental aspect existing within Siptalis' Plane. He is literal sadness—a lack of joy and euphoria. Other emotions, memories and thoughts related to Siptalis include sadness, grief, depression, lethargy, fatigue, shame, regret and dissatisfaction. In general, Siptalis deals with a decrease or lack of emotions related to Mpertem, the aspect representing joy, motivation and euphoria. Sometimes other negative emotions are attributed to Siptalis, generally a reviled aspect, but even these unfavorable feelings play a vital role in the mind of every Emynean! |
Kaithur |
During the Era of Legends, the Erlithmanil gifted residents of Emynea with their magic. Over time, every lifeform on Emynea came to inherit two of these blessings. Passed down from parent to child genetically, they came to call these gifts Kaithur. Kaithur are named by the aspect a caster is connected to and by how they can use it--how they manifest their connection. Despair magic is quite rare since Zalikar's Vengeance, most casters centered in and near the Tenebrous Chain. While extremely effective in debilitating targets, despair magic can also be used for healing and understanding. Casters will also develop one or more personality quirks or tendencies of Siptalis himself as a side effect of their connection to him. |

Siptalis's Diet can absorb and consume sorrow, grief and other emotions and memories related to Siptalis, using it to replenish magic energy, to heal or as sustanance! They are also immune to despair magic, absorbing it instead. |
If the caster of Siptalis's Will can incite emotions related to Siptalis in a target, they can inhance and empower their magic! Making a dour, somber comment or causing someone to forwn, making them recall a sad, instilling shame or inciting empathy for suffering, any and all of these can dramatically amplify other casters! |
Mind | Vision |
Those with Siptalis's Mind are able to enter a meditative state, mentally entering a target's Mind Space and leaving their body behind. They can experience thoughts, emotions and even memories stored here which are connected to Siptalis but cannot access the rest of the target's mind space. |
Casters with Siptalis's Vision are able to enter a meditative state in which the caster can mentally explore Siptalis's Plane. Unlike Mind Casters, they cannot enter Mind Spaces, only peeking inside as though through a window or in a reflection! |
Empathy | Apathy |
Siptalis's Empathy can enable targets to experience or share each other's emotions, thoughts and memories related to Siptalis. Casters can even project their own emotions of sorrow and dysphoria onto a target. |
Those with Siptalis's Apathy are able to block a target from being able to feel sorrow, shame, grief or emptiness! They can also restrict themselves from feeling these emotions for a time. On a smaller scale they can simply muffle these emotions instead.

Casters with Siptalis's Shield are immune to all despair magic and can turn off their own ability to experience these emotions and memories. | Those with Siptalis's Touch are able to inflict strong feelings of shame, depression or despair by touch. |
Binding | Step |
Casters with Siptalis's Binding are able to bind specific emotions, thoughts or memories related to Siptalis and restrict a target's access to them. Only the caster can remove the binding. | Siptalis's Step allows the caster to physically enter Siptalis's Plane, using someone experiencing despair or sorrow as a portal. They can explore and traverse the plane or enter mental spaces connected to the plane. However, physically exploring someone else's mind can be extremely dangerous! |
Appearance |
As an aspect of Zalikar, Siptalis resembles him quite a bit. He is almost always drenched in slick black oil and sticky tar, leaving him staggeringly heavy. Agonized faces weep and lament from beneath his pallid, gaunt skin while his brown eyes continuously cry soot black oil. He keeps his slick hair long and sometimes his eyes are smeared with dark makeup. Unlike most of his brothers, Siptalis has a preference for comforting, baggy cloathing such as roomy cloaks or more modern hoodies. Like Felryth, he is a fan of heavy metal music, leaning towards these styles amid modern eras. |
Abilities |
Siptalis is the embodiment of and mental expression of sorrow, despair, grief and shame among others. All despair is a part of him, an extension of him and his power, Siptalis capable of sensing, seeing or otherwise perceiving these emotions all around him. He can freely manipulate, inflict or relieve these emotions and memories as if commanding his own limbs, parsing through the memories of any individual connected to his plane simply by directing his attention to them. Finally, like many mental aspects, Siptalis is able to feed off of these emotions as they occur, each emotion and individual having their own unique flavor. However, as a mental aspect, he is unable to enter the physical world, existing only within the minds of Emyneans and within his plane. He can enter dreams and even the minds of anyone experiencing his emotions strongly--in fact he has even been known to plague those cursed by Zalikar! He can only view the world through the minds and memories connected to his plane and all despair magic still pulls from him as their source.

Personality |
Aspects are pieces of the whole mind of their element and so Azowyr embodies a piece of Zalikar. Siptalis is extremely insightful and perceptive into the hidden emotions of others even without his abilities—he is extremely empathetic. He has an immense understanding of these emotions and suffers them almost constantly himself, trapped in neverending depression. He is skilled in relating to and understanding people through these emotions and can use this understanding to manipulate or motivate those around him. He believes that is the merit and purpose of sorrow.
He can be extremely draining, intense and high maintenance, exhausting and demanding to tolerate and always a downer in bright settings. Yet at the same time, he is the ideal person to talk to when overcome by sorrow, grief or loss. His presence is comforting and he has no expectations for others to "get over" the source of their sorrow. He knows the best things to say, when to simply listen and validates all of the complexities of these emotions so one can fully experience the sorrow and move forward. |
While Siptalis can be empathetic and understanding, he is also capable of total apathy when he chooses to. He is prone to escapism in order to cope with his constant sorrow, cycling between this and sadomasochism depending on his mood and company. He also isnt afraid to use misery as a tool for teaching someone or forcing them to confront their true nature. Siptalis is quite morose, melancholic and angsty in personality as well as enjoying a metal aesthetic. He loves dark and emotional music more than any of his brother's as well whether this is rock and metal or raw instrumental compositions. |
