Great Abyssal-Eltar War
The Conflict
Prelude
Following the First Abyssal-Imperial War, the Arcanists of Tenebra and their descendants had been regarded as low-class citizens by the Empire of Qoyne. Tenebrans were segregated from the main population in designated areas. During the Gnoll Invasion of Qoyne, the Tenebrans were sent to battle Yeenoghu's forces in the The Arid Expanse. Following Yeenoghu's retreat, the Tenebrans formed the Armathora alongside House Valathora, and acted as protectors of the material plane. In secret, the Tenebrans maintained their loyalty to Orcus and waited for an opportunity to serve their master once more. This opportunity arose on the 8th Day of Monsoon, 534 when Quarion Armathor and the Loyal Foils recovered one of Orcus's horns, which had been severed during his battle with Aurelius during the Second Tenebran-Qoynish War. The Tenebrans had worked secretly over the years to enchant the Armathora signets to detect abyssal energy, most notably that of Orcus. Kaspian Armathor, a loyal Tenebran immediately reached out to Quarion Armathor and arranged the retrieval of the horn by other Tenebran loyalists. Over the next several months, the Tenebrans fused the horn to Amon's head, killing the comatose Empyrean, and creating an incredibly powerful vessel for the consciousness of Orcus. Kaspian Armathor then put together the plan for Orcus's return which involved three key objectives:
- Eradicate the Armathora and take control of Armath.
- Eliminate Yeenoghu, a potential competitor to Orcus. Yeenoghu was also planning a concurrent invasion of Eltar which could have interfered with the Tenebran's own plans.
- Forging an alliance with Yeenoghu's successor to secure an expanded Abyssal Army.
