The Verdant Kingdoms
The Verdant Kingdoms were formed out of one of the more successful organisations for law and good established during the War of the Seeds - the Verdant Light. Beginning as a group of volunteers brought together by Salsten Riley to save refugees fleeing Jae'Kalan's undead horde, the Light regathered under the leadership of its founder, Athel, and his second-in-command Serene Ashwood. Having achieved their immediete purpose following Jae'Kalan's death at the Battle of Eal, the group established bases in Eal, Frostpine, Law-Down and the far west, set up minor chapter houses in all other major cities, and finally established a citadel at Marikfort. They operated without regards for borders, assisting vulnerable civilians and hard-pressed soldiers alike in their struggles against the blight and the Rotwood Conclave.
After the war and the death of King Trost in Starport, the local kingdom of Braeland fell apart at the seams. To keep the lands descending into outright anarchy, the Duke of Pizol Springs and the Baroness of Akpaholm made the local barons an offer - accept a seat at the table of a league of nations, with the Verdant Light holding a tiebreaker vote, and with basic restrictions prohibiting slavery and preventing outright attrocities when the barons warred with each other. As the crown of Braeland had become effectively meaningless, a surprising number of barons signed up. Those who didn't quickly found that there was no benefit to their independence, as the Little Warriors and Verdant Light were intent on holding the local barons to these standards and rules anyway now that the Rotwood Conclave was no longer demanding attention.
While the Verdant Light remains - nominally - an organisation still dedicated to keeping peace and assisting all civilians regardless of borders, the newly founded 'Verdant Kingdoms' appear focused on serving the natural order within its own borders, and encouraging other nations to do the same. Many barons of Braeland were also killed during the war, and retiring Little Warriors were obvious candidates to rally around wherever there was a power vaccuum, so today almost half of the Kingdoms' voting members are either former Little Warriors or apprentices of Lady Ruby Wintergreen. The Guild itself is not a voting member, of course, but its emissary holds considerable influence.
The Verdant Kingdoms maintain their own military to protect their borders independantly of the Verdant Light, although the two still work together closely. The Kingdoms hold formal voting sessions in Marikfort every three months.
