Founder Galaxy

The first known picture of the founder galaxy, taken over 900,000 years ago.

Introduction:

The founder galaxy is the spiral galaxy that is home to the Illithid-Dilug Intergalactic Empire of New Rocheron, the United Federation of Humanity, and hundreds of independent systems. It is the birthplace of almost all known life and has been home to civilizations for over one million years. The supermassive blackhole Eternity lies at the galaxy's center.   Age: 9.8 billion years old   Width: 83,438 light years

Structure:

The founder galaxy is a fairly normal spiral galaxy, lying in the average ranges for size and mass for a spiral galaxy. The galaxy is below average in the number of arms it has, having two major arms as opposed to three to four arms. These arms extend from the central halo of the galaxy where the majority of the galaxy's mass is concentrated.

Sectors:

The galaxy is currently divided into eight sectors:

The Core Sector:

The core sector is home to the majority of the galaxy's inhabitants. It is often considered the cradle of civilization, and is home to the highest density of habitable planets.

The Origin Sector:

The origin sector one of the most densely population sectors in the galaxy, housing the United Federation of Humanity and several independent systems.

The Archaic Sector:

The archaic sector was given its name long ago because of the high number of primitive planets within it. In modern times most of these planets have either gained independence or joined the empire.

The Central Sector:

The region containing the center of the galaxy is sparsely populated compared to other sectors, mostly due to high levels of intersteller radiation and low numbers of habitable planets.

The Boundary Sector:

The boundary sector is home to a large number of independent planets, and has historically been a center of extraplanar commerce.

The Gateway Sector:

While once the center of extragalactic travel, the gateway sector is now very sparsely populated. It contains few independent planets, and is most known for its mining worlds.

The Dead Zone:

Once part of the boundary sector, the dead zone was thrown into disorder during the modern crisis era. Attempts have been made to reclaim it from the lawless groups that currently run it, but the imperial government has agreed to leave the dead zone unregulated to prevent its inhabitants from spreading across the galaxy.

Scourge Territory:

The Scourge have conquered and converted one quarter of the galaxy. The imperial navy is constantly at work keeping the scourge from advancing.
