Illithid

An illithid bounty hunter.

Introduction
The illithid are one of the two founding species of the Illithid-Dilug Intergalactic Empire of New Rocheron over one million years ago. They are from the ancient world of Rocheron, making them one of the oldest sentient species in the universe.
Scientific Name: Effugium novus
Appearance
The illithid are usually 6-7 ft. in height and possess four tentacles protruding downwards from their face. They have smooth hairless skin and a circular mouth in the center of their tentacles, full of large sharp teeth. They possess a large skull which houses a large brain, which is slightly visible from the exterior.
Lifestyle
All illithid are omnivores, and can eat almost any type of food in the galaxy. Their natural favorites are fish and fruit, although anything capable of being torn apart by their teeth is edible.
Illithid live in a variety of community types, from being solitary to living in large groups. Some illithid are members of a colony, whcih is an illithid group led by a large isolated brain called an elder brain. The members of the colony can communicate telepathically with each other, and can pool their knowledge together in the elder brain. The elder brain is always a former illithid, one that has gone through a magical ritual to shed their body and have their brain grow to an enormous size.
Illithid are found all over the Empire, being one of the most numerous species by population size. Nearly every populated world is home to them, thanks to their population size and their capability of eating nearly anything.. They can also be found in the UFH, usually on Dagarus or other large worlds.
