Rocheron

An artist's depiction of Rocheron's destruction.

Introduction:

Rocheron was the birthplace of the Illithid-Dilug Intergalactic Empire of New Rocheron and the homeworld of the Illithid and the Dilug. It was once a vibrant planet teeming with life, until it was destroyed in the event known as the First Cataclysm.

Description:

Rocheron was 66% water and 34% land. The land biomes were divided by fields of blue grass and ferns, sprawling deserts, frigid mountains, and other common land biomes. The oceans were very deep, and housed many lifeforms. The life at the depths was commonly described by the average person as "creepy" and "horrifying." Rocheron had one moon, which was simply known as "the moon." This moon was later terraformed in the High Precursor Era and named New Rocheron.

Destruction:

During the Preimperial Era the system of Supreme Solaris was divided by the Cataclysmic War. During the end of the war the illithid attempted to destroy the moon using an advanced planet cracking weapon, a primitive first step in Stellar Engineering. However, a malfunction caused the weapon to misfire and destroy Rocheron instead, killing 11.3 billion people. The debris from the planet pelted the moon and other planets, and a large amount of debris that managed to miss the moon were captured in a lunar orbit. This cloud of debris slowly broke itself down until it formed into a ring around the moon.
