Dilug

A female dilug soldier wearing the standard uniform of the Imperial Army.

Introduction:

The Dilug are one of the two founding species of the Illithid-Dilug Intergalactic Empire of New Rocheron over one million years ago. They are native to the ancient planet Rocheron, making them one of the oldest intelligent species in the universe.   Scientific Name: Venator novus

Appearance:

Dilug are mammals covered in blue fur, usually measuring 4-5 feet in height. They have reflective red eyes that allow them to see well in low light conditions. A dilug's head has four brown horns, each one covered in tiny spines that slash any exposed flesh that scrapes over them.   Female dilugs are larger and stronger than males, an evolutionary holdover from their original nomadic lifestyle. Their sexual dimorphism caries over to a dilug's mental state as well. Males are more adapted to moving swiftly and avoiding harm, while females are more adapted to fighting in small packs.

Lifestyle:

All dilug are carnivores, and possess a short digestive tract specializing in digesting raw and cooked meat. While other foods such as eggs and milk can be eaten in small quantities, plant matter is indigestible and will cause digestive problems if consumed. This can be mitigated with the use of certain pills designed for the digestion of plant matter.   Dilug usually live with their large families, and often remain in contact if they choose to leave. Communities of unrelated dilug are also common, as they find comfort being among their own kind. In densely populated areas dilug frequently adopt the local cultural norms, blending in like most ancient imperial species.

META: Playing a Dilug:

As a person with free will, your character can act and think in any way you want them to. If you want them to follow the norm for a dilug, take the following into consideration:   -Because they are an imperial founding species and can be found everywhere, many dilig see themselves as one of the "default" species in the empire and may view other, newer species as "alien."   -As highly social creatures, dilug thrive with other social species like Protectors and may struggle with solitary species like Korrax.
