Korrax

Introduction:

The korrax are a nonhumanoid species and the most recent species to join the Illithid-Dilug Intergalactic Empire of New Rocheron, with their planet Nelor joining the empire a mere 23 years ago. While their appearance is unsettling to some, they are a curious and friendly species that finds themselves throughout civilization.   Scientific Name: Phidippus indagator

Appearance:

The korrax are large arthropods, resembling many species commonly referred to as spiders. They are on average five feet long and two feet tall. They are covered in many sensitive hairs that help them with hearing. Their eight large eyes are great at seeing in normal and low light conditions. Thanks to tiny claws on their feet, all korrax can climb walls, as long as gravity does not exceed 1.5 times the normal rate.   Korrax males are slightly smaller than females. Males have also evolved to be very colorful in order to attract mates. In modern korrax society, the color of a korrax's body has little meaning and is often dyed for cosmetic purposes.   After hatching from their eggs, a korrax reaches maturity at 10 years old. Korrax gain the ability to speak at around 2 years old.

Lifestyle:

The korrax are a carnivorous species and normally consume other large arthropods, but are capable of eating other forms of meat. They can eat plant matter in an emergency or as a snack, but they cannot live off of it exclusively.   The korrax are a solitary species, and rarely live with other members of their species outside of mating. Many have grown acclimated to living in urban environments, but rarely live in housing with other people. The majority of korrax live on their home world, with the rest split between the star systems near their home and the core sector.

(Meta) Playing a Korrax:

As a person with free will, your character can act and think in any way you want them to. If you want them to follow the norm for a korrax, take the following into consideration:   -As a nonhumanoid species, a korrax may find themselves confused about technology and architecture designed for a humanoid body shape   -Their lack of facial expressions means that other species often struggle to understand the emotions a korrax is feeling. Korrax replace facial expressions with specific movements of their pedipalps (leg like appendages covering their fangs).   -Many korrax prefer to eat arthropod meat exclusively and find other kinds of meat disgusting.   -The solitatary lifestyle of the korrax means that korrax often do not do well in close quarters with other people, such as on a ship. They will often isolate themselves to achieve alone time.
