Shopping and Spiders Report

General Summary

Our heroes continue their journey through the Llangoed Forest in an attempt to reach Starleaf Vale with news of the various strange, spider related goings on. Having already withstood the attack of a horde of spider armed creatures the Heroes of Darknook as well as Amafrey Windriver, the taciturn Hand of the Order of the Star Leaf and the halfling warrior Maly Lete still have at least another day in the forest.
That day dawns and soon finds the group near a volcanic vent in the forest, next to the vent they see a weeping halfling child, or do they. No sooner do Maly and Alok Ravaralei try to investigate then the group is ambushed by a trio of giant, magic-using spiders. Alok is quickly webbed and Maly magically paralyzed before long combat ensues. the spiders attack without quarter but are beaten back with the only loss being an almost mortal blow to Striker.
That is the last of the attacks that the party must suffer as they negotiate the rest of the forest without incident arriving in the much livelier and more abundant Starleaf Vale. They are led immediately to The Hollow Tree, the administrative centre of the Order of the Star Leaf and there they meet the head of the Order Eilnala Horineth, the Order's Archivist Aliod and an elderly tortle named Tarbik.
It starts to become clear from the stories of everyone that Arkud, Queen of Spiders could be reawakened. She was thought defeated by the great hero Atam Wishart through the use of the Staff of the Woodlands. But it seems she may not have been defeated and the Order meet to determine the best course of action, leaving our heroes to visit the Starleaf Market where Marble goes shopping to buy booze and ends up purchasing some dwarven soap for a pretty half-elven gir (who is actually Thomas Marchant in disguise. Thomas and Alok also make purchases, including Thomas' gnomish blade-flute from the market vendors before most of the Heroes retire to The Axe of Fire and Marble discovers its amazing "Vistors' Menu.
