Arkud (a.k.a. Queen of Spiders)
Arkud is a great spider who spent hundreds of years slumbering beneath the ice in Icewood Vale. She was said to have spawned the first spiders before being banished to an icy slumber.
Now she has awoken for some malevolent reason and once again seeks to spread her brood throughout Dorwine

Personal history
Arkud has been languishing in a seemingly eternal slumber beneath the mountains of Icewood Vale after being banished there by Atam Wishart. Using the Staff of the Woodlands Wishart was able to drive the spiders from their toe-hold in the Llangoed Forest towards Icewood Vale. There Arkud and Wishart faced off, and during the encounter the Queen of Spiders was banished into slumber beneath the ice. Wishart fell, spent and it was believed his staff was lost.
