The Long War is in contention for the bloodiest conflict ever fought on the face of Diyu, rivaled only by Zamain's Crusades half a millennium ago. It lasted from 649 YS to 967 YS, stretching from the Sang Bing Wood to the Lururer Bay, 8000 km of fighting.
This was the age that saw Laran pushed back, as a cavalcade of quick Imperator deaths meant that no central control could be expanded for long. The lack of a unified army meant that the far more cohesive and communicative Akroni made great gains into Laran's territory.

The calamitous Battle of Uxcelesch Plain marked the start of the Long War, notable players including the Imperator-- Shoka of the House of Baden Hill, Xoffe of Castelan Ward, and Khidz Toryx--general of the Akroni army mustered to stop the Larani. The battle ended with the Larani army functionally destroyed, and the Akroni army reduced to 1000.
After a brief power struggle--brief on a Larani scale--Mecogt Kana ascended to the seat of Imperator, bringing what had been formed of the Larani army to bear against the Akroni reinforcing the Aphes Valley.
The Battle of Korin Field saw the death of the reigning Imperator Mecogt Kana, and the advancement of Akroni forces into the Plain of the Holy Sepulchre. Notable figures to come out of the battle are the Burning Knight and the Wych Hunter Corryn Draes.
The Siege of Trahe Nor was the background to the early war in the Sotteran. Competent Larani commanders resulted in the city being taken, allowing the Larani to push into the Akroni Sotteran. The Nauld Caverns would remain a point of conflict for centuries, however, as Larani success would not last.
The Battle of Dirfai Bridge saw the defeat of the Akroni army led by Sado the Bold, his death at the hands of Nakra of the House of Xoch, and the shattering of a large Akroni army. It came following the capture of Trahe Nor by Nadra of the House of Xoch, and the expulsion of the Akroni from the Nauld Caverns for the next decade.
After the ascension of the Imperator and their consolidation of power, Larani forces began to hold the line in the Overlands. Underground, however, they fared far better, contesting several crucial caverns lost in the last half a century, and reclaiming lost territory.
The Era of the Sotteran Front was started by a Larani force surging deep into the Sotteran to siege the city of Nurweth Mel. It lay at a crucial junction of several interlocking mini-regions called the Llaldwik, effectively acting as the capital of the region. After a short--relatively--razing campaign, the Larani army headed by Go of the Cult of Obxo burned the city to the ground following a two-year siege.
The War on Quon Wo is the collective term for the various engagements and campaigns fought on the Sea of Quon Wo throughout the Long War's Duration. Anything relating to that on this timeline will be marked with (WQW), and the reader can refer here for more holistic information.
