Culture and Cultural Heritage
The Dawasi uphold their runes as their main cultural heritage, which they see as the gifts from their gods. The Fire God Volcar is seen as the god of life as well, and that is enough in itself.
Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals
On the day that commemorates Zamain's wound, all Dawasi turn off every light. All are required to fast in darkness during daylight hours, as a memorial for the empire and people lost.
History
Dawasi all originated from an ancient mega continent known as Gwer Rnavn that floated above the Lurur Ocean and the Easternmost portion of the continent of Maingye. During Zamain's rampage, the Dawasi allied with the Drow, and their continent was shattered after Zamain inflicted his wound on the world. Gwer Rnavn was broken into thousands, maybe millions, of floating islands that spiraled out of control. Some settled into consistent currents and float above the earth in a predictable pattern. Others were sent on a downward spiral and crashed into the land and the ocean. The area underneath the old continent is now known as the shattered lands for how broken the earth underneath it is due to all the falling shards of land. Many isles were set into a slow trajectory of death, the most famous being in a death spiral above the SHattered Lands right now.
Not all the floating isles were part of Gwer Rnavn, the most famous of the ancient Dawasi Empires, called Garanths, that wasn't affected much by Zamain's wound being the Karanor on the Seven Isles of Karanor, which have floated above the Ever-Jungle for millennia. Many Dawasi left the islands for more stable ground, and the majority of those who left settled in the Sotteran, becoming known as the Underdwarves, with those who remained became known as the Sky Dwarves. In the centuries since the Shattering of Gwer Rnavn, new Garaths have formed, the most famous being the Garanth of Gar-Zhamud. The UNder Dwarves have also established cities and empires in the Sotteran as well, the most powerful of which is Thenkhan, the Iron Bastion.
The Dawasi have done a good job of preserving their traditions, mostly revolving around runic crafts and simple machinery created with their magic, as well as their specific Wych lineages, eugenicsed into several families of incredibly powerful fire and rune mages. However, with the rise of the Arkonaut Corporation and its need for rune magic, especially evolved rune magic, many Dawasi have abandoned their traditions for Arkonaut machinery. Many have gone further and turned their runes into heretical and sacrilegious amalgamations of what they once were. All in all, the development of far more advanced technology than anything the Dawasi have ever seen, and all done with perversions of their traditions has shocked the Dawasi to their cores and prompted a cultural movement, a backlash, backlashes to the backlash, and a murky divide.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Dawasi can reproduce with Humans, Drow, Makassi, and all relevant subspecies.
Subspecies
Dawasi vary in physical appearance and morphology, however, there are few cultural differences between their two subraces. In Dawa, the two are differentiated simply as Eim or Sir, with the Sideiz or Dwarf/Dawasi being added for outsiders.Eim Sideiz or Sky Dwarves as they are colloquially called, are the Dwarves that still reside in the floating shards of Gwer Rnavn. They tend to lean towards the reformist Dwarves, due to their reliance on Arkonaut vehicles for increased trade. They also look down on the Under Dwarves as kin who have strayed from their forefather's culture, despite the Under Dwarves being far more conservative in their views.
The Sir Sideiz or Under Dwarves as most know them, are the Dawasi who fled from the shards of Gwer Rnavn, to settle under the earth in caverns similar to those within their floating islands. They do not shun the surface, however, much prefer the deep dark. They make good guides and are the common image of a rune knight. Due to their Diaspore, the Under Dwarves hold far closer their ancient traditions, looking down upon the generally more reformist Sky Dwarves.
