Arkonaut Corporation
Non-Alchemist artificers are by near defualt tied to the Arkonaut Corporation. Any player who chooses to play an artificer will have to decide whether or not they work as an extension of the Arkonaut Corporation, or as someone trying o break their monopoly. Both come with intrinsic plot threads, the latter far more perilous as the Arkonaut Corporation will stop at nothing to keep the making of their technology a secret. Players who have chosen to play Dawasi also have to consider who their character feels about the Arkonaut Corporation as well.
Structure
The Arkonaut Corporation is a company, and so is led by a board of directors, each of whom is known as an Arkonaut Board Member. To become a Board Member you have to own at least an 8% share in the company. Many of the Board Members take an active role in running the company, which is organized into several cells, all of whom report to the Board. A board member will lead either one small cell, or a specific branch of the base in Arlesciatre. Notable Board Seats are the Grand Archivist, the Grand General, the Munificitor, and the Grand Technologis. The board members with special roles are all Artificers of some sort.
Each branch operates differently and with its own unique, but clear, hierarchy. Most of the branches are in parts of Arlesciatre, be they Research and Development labs, production factories, or archive buildings.

Culture
The Arknonauts are focused on profit above all else. Everything is a means to an end to line their pockets. At the highest level at least. Many more of their employees just need to make a living, generally those in the archives or the manufactories. The branches where you'll find a hunger for knowledge and advancement are the R&D labs.
Public Agenda
The Arkonaut Corporation advertises itself as the Harbinger of Progress, the herald of the future, bringing a time of glorious innovation and technology to the common man.
Assets
The Arkonautr Corporation controls four factories employing about 300 people each along various levels in Arlesciatre. There are five R&D labs in the city itself, and twelve more scattered across Akronis, no more than one per large city. Each employs about 35 people. The Arkonaut Corporation also runs the Arkonaut College, a large university in the Jaws district of Arlesciatre, which employs several dozen professors and a few hundred more faculty. The college houses the Corporation Archives, which itself employs about a hundred archivists, cleaning and maintenance staff, and others.
Finally, is the Corporation's private army, called the Nuts, Cogs, & Bolts, or NCB. Across all of Corporation land, they field several thousand guards, all armed with plate and brigandine armour, a gladius sword, & a shield. The NCB maintains a corp of gunman, using the relatively recent Arquebus. These snipers are spread out across the facilities acting as elite mooks and overseers.
By far the most famous of the Arkonaut Corporation's assets are the Arkonaut Airships. They possess 30 Arkonaut Corvettes, 10 Arkonaut Destroyers, and 4 Arkonaut Titans. These behemoths of metal and magic are crewed by 10, 40, and 80 people each, including weapon platforms and command personnel. These have made the Arkonaut Corporation renowned across the Akroni Confederacy and Dawasi kingdoms, especially those residing in the remnants of Gwer Rnavn. They wield enormous destructive potential and have opened a new front of travel and technology.
Last but not least, the Arkonaut Corporation has Akroni patents for several different marks of Power Armour.

History
The Arkonaut Corporation began as an Artificers Guild established in the razing phase of the Long War between the Akroni Confederacy and Empire of Laran. They were a non-militant researcher group that saw minimal success in their century or so of operation. A random breakthrough, made by the Technomancer Pakhupet Dormon. Dormon made a deal with several wealthy Akroni merchants for them to finance his ventures in exchange for the airship, which they could use to get around the Larani and expand their trade routes.
As such, the guild was reformed into the Arkonaut Company, with all the senior members as well as the investors as the new board of directors. Since then, they have only risen in success, opening trade with the Dawasi, and arming the elite of Akronis with their new inventions.

Technological Level
The Arkonaut Corporation is the most advanced group in all of known Diyu, decades or centuries ahead of everyone else, shown by their creation of the Arquebus and their airships. They are sitting at a steampunk level of technology.
Foreign Relations
The Arkonaut Corporation will deal over the table with everyone except the Empire of Laran due to most of the members being Akroni and Laran wanting to kill or subjugate all Akroni.
Trade & Transport
The Arkonaut Corporation is vital to the survival of the Dawasi's floating island kingdoms. Many of the islands are only accessible at very specific and limited times, at least through conventional means. This combined with the little growing space on the islands results in a near-permanent worry about food, however, the Arkonaut Corporations airships alleviate this completely. Most of their recent fortune has come from the Dawasi paying frankly insane amounts of money for access to Arkonaut Airships, for which they charge exorbitant prices. A monopoly is the best time to make money.
