Physical Description

General Physical Condition

While being strong enough to handle others of his own size and a bit bigger, he is slim and best suited to be sneaky, he is incredible agile and flexible, in fact, he is a contortionist. While flying, he is able to reach high speeds and capable to perform all sorts of maneuvers.

Body Features

Charles is an ocher colored canary Hybrid with light yellow feathers on his face, chest, belly and crotch.
Avian hybrids in general are kind of weird, as they do have arms and their wings are actually a skin and muscle extension that can be expanded at will from their arms, deploying wings about two and a half times their own body, they have a tail with feathers that expand and aid them in flight as it would happen with any normal non hybrid bird, and they also have thick thighs but long and thin legs and claws for feet, their bodies are a bit stronger than those of some normal hybrids in order for them to be able to trap, lift and carry people with their claws and fly them off wherever they want.

Identifying Characteristics

The feathers of his body can turn from ocher and light yellow to orange and light orange, this is due to a genetic pre-disposition to be able to turn orange, in order to trigger this, he maintains a specific diet some days before he molts and grows new feathers, oddly enough, his feathers, beak, legs, and claws will turn orange whenever his feathers are ocher colored and ocher when the feathers are orange colored.
Aside from that, he has a few bullet scars on his back.

Physical quirks

Left handed, he walks confidently with his chest and head upright, likes to softly and elegantly wave his arms/wings when walking, his steps are long and a bit hard sometimes. He is often seen as a calmed and curious individual who moves a bit slowly whenever he is not in the need to do otherwise, he is fond of exploring the place he is in, having a keen eye for even the most meticulous detail. Whenever he is tired, bored or has to sit down or stand still, he will start to softly massage his neck and the lower part of his beak with the tip of his wings/fingers.

Special abilities

He does know how the Blue Energy spell of teleportation, being able to travel instantly to places he sees or has been before, being also able to teleport to the location of a photo.
With the help of the Pink Energy He is able to use Pathokinesis, which is basically another name for "Emotion manipulation".
Charles is currently trying to study and use both telepathy and mind control, which are also used with the help of the pink energy, and although he has not been able to do so as of today, he claims to be able to hear the "voices in other people's heads" sometimes.
His training with pathokinesis was part of the SF5 experimentation program and his mastery over teleportation comes from a fellow sorcerer of the D.O.W.A. That agreed to teach him that spell while he was on law school.

Apparel & Accessories

Normally, he doesn't really like to wear any kind of clothes other than his brown shorts. When having the need of being formal, he wears white pants and a white tuxedo with a black tie, when having to go to cold climates, he is equipped with white vests or jackets if he doesn't need to use his wings for the time being, when he needs to wear "informal" upper clothing he likes to use orange or yellow tropical shirts.

Specialized Equipment

He normally carries a small pouch with a few Energy Pearls inside, a small cutting laser disguised as a pointer laser, a lighter, two small EMP grenades, a small bottle of ethyl alcohol, and the photo of a pan.
When wearing any kind of upper clothing, he uses a gun holster suspender to hide a red laser handgun he normally carries to missions but that he actually almost never uses and prefers to leave behind, as it would probably cause him trouble.

Personal history

Born to unknown parents inside the D.O.W.A. who used an Artificial breeding machine to avoid recognition, he was chosen as one of the childs that would take part on their training program for future special agents.
At the age of three, he was neurologically programmed to obey and react in specific ways to certain voice commands.
At the age of fourteen and after years of training, he was assigned to the SF5 team of the marine forces of Scuila, which were being administered by undercover D.O.W.A. personnel, this team in specific was characterized by being composed only by underage teens who underwent the same process as Charles did.
After many successful operations and around the early 90's, the Savage war had started and his team was tasked with venturing into a city in Scuila to look for Leonor Kartika, who was allegedly hiding Hairiyu inside an orphanage of her propriety, since the D.O.W.A. was interested in capturing them for study, they sent the SF5 team to raid the place, this time wearing uniforms from their own organization instead of using the marine uniform and wearing clothes that would hide their face and species to not raise any suspicions from Scuila's military forces.
Charles felt for the first time in his life a rush of sympathy he was never allowed to have after encountering a young Katherine Bloom alongside a young Kangaroo hiding inside a closet, begging to not be killed. He helped them escape the orphanage after realizing the rest of his unit was killing all the staff and trapping every child of the orphanage inside the basement by orders of the D.O.W.A.
When the other members of the unit reported him, he was taken off service and brought back to the D.O.W.A. installations where he went through a second process of neurological programming with the hope of eliminating the sympathetic aspect of his persona, although before this could happen, they decided to just take him out of the group and keep him as a solo agent, the reasoning for this was that the SF5 was an experimental group designed to test if neurologically programmed children could grow up to have the same level of efficiency as Androids without the need of having to completely remove their free will, since many people inside the organization considered this to be kind of a pointless experiment, testing was only allowed in a single small unit, by the time Charles was taken out of the group, it had been determined that organic beings like him would not be as efficient as an android would without taking their will away.
The rest of the SF5 was allowed to continue up until their free will reached the same level Charles did, which happened about half a year latter, making the D.O.W.A. take the decision of disbanding the group.
Charles thought of escaping the group at some point but decided to not do so on the grounds that he felt that he had a status among the organization, his peers and even higher ups respected him, he wasn't even bashed or looked down because of the incident he had in the orphanage, on the contrary, his actions made him be more respected than the other members in the SF5 group, which was in itself seen in a bad light, besides, he had displayed quite an outstanding effectiveness being a solo agent, which consisted more in espionage and specific assassinations rather than direct contact.
At one point he was traced by Katherine Bloom who thanks to the Arkhipova managed to find him, her only reason to do so was to thank him for saving both her and her brother's lives, also revealing herself as a Hairiyu with the ability of mind control, offering him her help whenever he would need it.
He was also traced at some point by Leonor Kartika's nephew Raleigh Kartika who was the responsible of single handedly taking out the other members of the SF5 unit without being caught or identified by the D.O.W.A. Problem being that Raleigh never managed to find Charles and is still looking for him up to this very day.
Currently, he keeps working as a special agent for the D.O.W.A. And his most recent mission involved traveling to the city of Epristan to investigate the sudden appearance of Corvul Tadeo and Georgina Jericho, which raised some concerns regarding The Kraai's activities on the city.

Education

After being taken out of the SF5 and before going solo, he was offered the chance to study a career while being fully covered by the D.O.W.A., with the only condition being that it had to be something that would provide a certain benefit to his status as a solo operative, he chose law school and became a lawyer specialized as a criminal lawyer. He is also an experienced spy and combatant, being involved in special operations ever since he was a teenager.

He has worked with the D.O.W.A. his whole life, first as part of the SF5 experimental group and then as a solo agent.

Accomplishments & Achievements

His major accomplishments are the many successful operations under the SF5 and solo, and obtaining a high value and respect status among the D.O.W.A.

Failures & Embarrassments

He is deeply embarrassed and a bit frustrated by the mere fact that he was a literal guinea pig for the D.O.W.A. He has a secret grudge against the organization for experimenting with him and the other members of the SF5, because of this, he doesn't like to talk about his past or his literally non existing family, he feels frustrated at being tied to deep into the organization and not feeling able to escape them despite him wanting to leave as soon as possible. Charles is also embarrassed at the fact that he has been following orders from others his entire life, making him have a bit of a reckless and carefree attitude off duty and sometimes while on a mission, wanting to "feel alive" by venturing into anything new he finds.
His biggest and most remarkable failure was to not be able to "save" his former SF5 teammates from being killed by Raleigh Kartika who he has yet to identify. Even then Charles was not fond of his teammates, he knew they went under the same experimentation as they did, making him have empathy for them and developing a huge grudge towards their unknown killer and intensifying his hatred towards the D.O.W.A

Mental Trauma

Charles suffers from survivor guilt, not knowing why of all the members of his unit he was the one left alive by the Unknown killer or why he managed to survive the war despite feeling that he "had" to die in there.
His guilt also carries over to his missions with the SF5, which when looked back upon as an adult, were kind of ethically ambiguous to him.

Intellectual Characteristics

He is a very persuasive and deductive person, being able to entirely read a whole person just by speaking a few seconds with them, and even when he has been trained in combat, he prefers to think of any kind of strategy to overcome any dangerous situation he faces through the use of speech and barter over violence.
Having studied law and being specialized as a criminal lawyer, Charles has found many ways to go out unpunished from the many implications his job as a solo agent brings if he gets caught or gets taken to court somehow, he has also acted as a defense lawyer for some of the D.O.W.A. operatives that get caught while on a mission.
Charles persuasiveness has allowed him to stop people from committing suicide on three different occasions, as well as to have a rather active and kind of irresponsible sex life.

Morality & Philosophy

While he mostly acts and is a "Goal justifies the means" kind of person, he does have a soft and hypocritical side that allows him to refuse to take part on certain actions if it means something to him, such as when he helped Katherine Bloom and his brother to escape the orphanage after feeling sympathy for them.
Having a guilt and survivor complex latter on made him realize that lives were worth more than any kind of mission, although he understands that sometimes lives must be taken if it means more will be saved.
Charles tends to go back and forth over being completely utilitarian and cold, and being sympathetic and soft-hearted, struggling to decide which one is better than the other, struggling even more to find a balance between both.

Motivation

At first, Charles wanted to prove himself as a valuable part of the D.O.W.A. and eventually obtain more power within the organization, he eventually decided to dedicate himself to save as many lives as he could by performing the job he was kind of forced to take by them.
His long term goal is to break free of the organization he was literally born in, as well as having power over them somehow, he also wishes to be able to create his own law firm.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Charles is very crafty, being able to find at least ten uses out of an object most people would overlook, he has a keen eye for ridiculous details unnoticeable to many, is a very persuasive preacher, and has a photographic memory, as well as being able to remember many specific sounds, smells and any type of sensation, he is also a very decent cook.
His ineptitudes include being a bit lazy and very laid back, sometimes even at work, and while this sometimes interferes with his missions, it has never proved to be a problem the D.O.W.A. had ever considered to call him out for, he is also unable to maintain a working relationship as he doesn't really have a sense of commitment, tending to go for one night stands over a real relationship.

Likes & Dislikes

Charles likes to sleep in a small nest shaped bed he made with tree branches he gathered, surrounded and covered by his own fallen feathers, he also likes cherries, apples, bananas, watermelons, warm weathers, feeling air breezes on his whole body, flying at slow speeds, sleeping on clouds, go out to pick up a potential one night stand in a bar or something similar, cocktails, and going out for walks with his pet dog.
He rarely does so, but he also likes to smoke cigars, and has a guilty pleasure for watching "dumb comedies" on television, claiming that his sense of humor can get to be a really childish and stupid at times.
He dislikes cold weathers, aquatic life, sea foods, domestic cats, encountering people he slept with that he is trying to forget, being told what to do, Wednesdays, and remembering or being asked to tell something about his past.

He is always very dedicated to whatever task he is making, being able to maintain concentration even when under extreme pressure scenarios, he has the ability of making smooth talk out of stuff he doesn't even know about, he is also self aware of his own personality and tries really hard to find a middle ground between his cold and warm side. Charles is very patient and is able to tolerate and work with toxic behaved people most of the time.
He has a natural singing voice considered to be "bewitching" by many.

Vices & Personality flaws

As a parallel to Katherine Bloom, he has a tendency to manipulate others to do whatever he wants, feeling a strong urge to be in power and have full control of the situation, becoming overly confident, a bit cocky, and sometimes a borderline immoral person.
All of this developed in response to realizing that he had been following other people's orders his whole life, wanting and willing to speak his way around any problem, resorting to violence only if really necessary.
Charles can be a sore loser sometimes and might act a bit aggressive if called or mocked up for something he screwed up.

Personality Quirks

Sometimes, he likes to sleep on a bird cage made for his size, securing it with an electronic timed lock, he claims to feel the need to do so only a few times per month and actually finds the sensation of fully stretching his wings without being able to fly to be quite arousing.
He rarely cries, but when he does so, he makes a soft and cute "chirp" sound that sounds like a lullaby, his laugh is loud and energetic yet harmonic and melodious, when sleeping, he snores a lot, although his snores are actually soft "chirps".
Oddly enough, he likes to comb his eyelashes sometimes.

Contacts & Relations

Most part of his contacts and professional relationships are within the D.O.W.A. Personnel, although he has created quite a personal network of people willing to help him as result of his interaction with others during the course of his missions.
On the most personal side, most of the people he considered to be "Friends" are either dead or distanced from him, being all over the world for his missions means that he doesn't really have much people close enough to him to be considered "real friends", not to mention that his lack of commitment for a relationship has not allowed him to have a stable couple.

He is really confident, extroverted, and even when he can get to be a little cocky and/or rude, he has an impeccable charisma that is able to persuade and get every piece of information even from the most cold or harsh people, he knows and is able to adapt and quickly blend into most worldwide cultures.

Whenever he talks and is standing still or not moving that much, he softly flaps his wings, when sitting down he tends to cross his legs, when laying down or running, he tends to open his wings.
Over the time and in response to certain physical stimulations, he found out that if someone manages to apply pressure to his back while he is laying face down, he will instinctively expand both of his wings as well as his tail feathers, if someone rubs his cheeks, the top of his beak, or his neck, he will immediately open his mouth, if a bit of pressure is applied to the end of his back/beginning of his tail, he will instinctively let out an aroused "Chirp" sound, this also applies to his lower belly or at his crotch.

Hobbies & Pets

He adopted a Labrador dog named "Pan" during his time in law school, which he left under the care of one of the D.O.W.A. agents that recently got retired. Even when he doesn't have that much free time in his hands, he likes to visit said friend from time to time to interact with bot him and Pan.
As for his hobbies, Charles likes to build nests out of tree branches he gathers, he also likes to constantly keep changing his feather's colors from orange to ocher tones by following a specific diet some days before he molts and grows new feathers, he also likes to fly for fun, sleep on clouds, go out for one night stands, practice cocktail making, keeping on touch with international laws (This is more of a requirement for his work but he also likes to do it just for the sake of it) Train his magic skills, study telepathy and mind control spells, watch some "dumb comedies" and visiting and spending some time with those close acquaintances he wishes to spend time with.

History

It all started back when Charles was part of the SF5 team, he was barely a teenager and found Kate and his brother hiding in a closet begging not to be killed during one of his missions that consisted in raiding an orphanage in order to seek some specific personnel.
After feeling sympathy for them, he helped them escape the place and would not know about them until years latter when Kate actually managed to find him just to thank him personally for saving her life, promising to help him in whatever he might need in a future.
When the D.O.W.A. Allowed Charles to have some personal vacations, he immediately reached out to Kate and asked her to be beside him because he felt a bit lonely and wanted someone to spend his time with, she accepted and went as far as allowing him to live at her place while he was on vacations on the condition that she would use her mind control on him just so he wouldn't do anything catchy or unwanted, he agreed and lived with her for the following few months.
It was at this time where he also met and got to know Kate's Specter invader called "Melanie" who would actually display genuine respect for him and also thank him for helping Kate and his brother escape the orphanage.
After a while, and after confirming that Charles genuinely only wanted company and nothing more, she began to develop an emotional attachment towards him, an attachment Melanie was not sure how to respond to. Surprisingly, Charles also began to felt the same way about her but was actually too shy to directly talk to her about it, claiming that it was the first time in his life he actually felt shy about doing something, he even confessed to not be able to have enough commitment to maintain an actual relationship

While Kate was the one to track and contact Charles in the first place, it wasn't until he kept approaching her that he felt the need of being besides her since she had been the only person to genuinely care about him.
