Missituk Valley Veteran's Home - 224 S Boundary St

Supported by community and church funds, this home houses the worst of New Jerusalem's World War casualties. Triple and quadruple amputees abound; faces ruined by shrapnel gaze piteously; bodies rotted by flame and phosphorus sometimes drift ghostlike across windows and disappear.   Ray Mowry lives in the Missituk Valley Veteran's Home; he may not be one of the worst of the casualties there, but damage from shell shrapnel from World War II shelling means that his physical condition is still appalling. Ray’s family rarely comes to see him, his only regular visitor is his old war buddy Earl Jenkin. Mowry's mind appears to have crumbled along with his body by the things he saw. Those who listen to Ray’s mutterings will notice a constant thread related to what sounds like "dogs eating the dead", but which can be understood from further listening to be that Ray saw something feasting on the dead during the war.
