Packer House - 319 W Pitman St

Named for wealthy Catholic alumnus Joseph Packer, the Packer House serves as the center for religious activity on campus. The house holds the offices of Father Windy Shepherd Henderson, Missituk’s Catholic chaplain. Henderson conducts small Catholic Masses in Packer House’s chapel every week. Lutheran and Episcopal Eucharist services are also held here during the evening. Packer House serves as a dormitory exclusively for students majoring in religion. It also acts as a home base for several campus and community religious groups. Discussion groups, retreats, and seminars are commonplace.   Mrs. Joan Doyle helps out at the Packer House, helping keep the place trim, or as trim as can be given the presence of students. Mrs. Doyle is a widow now in her 50s and wishes the students would be more interested in the faith than most of them are, but she believes that some attendance is better than none. She will buttonhole anyone who looks like they might be more interested in religion, and over the years she has picked up a goodly amount of knowledge on Christianity from various professors and students.
