Northside

This is the run down area where the middle to lower classes live, thanks to its proximity to the Industrial Zone. Unlike their neighbors in Little Warsaw, or the Larger Residential District, the houses and apartments of the Northside are crammed into a tight space like chicken coops with little-to-no oversight for construction quality.
In the last 20 years the city attempted to revitalize the Northside. The area in the north eastern corner of Northside has undergone heavy gentrification. Following the construction of Mason’s Square, several venue halls/bars, coffee and tea shops, craft breweries, art communes and other small shops began to pop up in area surrounding Mason’s Square. The further you travel from Mason’s Square and into Northside, it’s clear to see that the efforts of gentrification failed to reach the entire district. Fewer and fewer of these venue halls or shops are found amidst the low-income housing that fills the Northside the further you get from Mason’s Square. You can walk around at night, but wouldn't want to do it alone.
Noteworthy Locations:
  • St. Jude's Hospital
St Jude's is one of the smaller clinics where most people go, though there is a primary hospital in town for those who can afford luxuries like insurance. But it is the clinics like St Jude's' where gunshot, stab, and needle wounds are treated. The staff works tirelessly around the clock in a city where crime is well above the national average.
  • Mason's Square
A large open square for live performers, with some independent shops all around, this is the creative hub of the north side. Around here the bars only play live music.
  • The Crescent City Mirror
The Mirror is Crescent City’s local tabloid rumor rag, offering daily exposés of fanciful and strange events. Full of conspiracy theories and interested in the dark secrets of the city’s celebrities, the Mirror is respected by few as a real source of news and is regarded as more a source of comical entertainment. Still, some take its words seriously, though they would never admit it in public.
