Appointment

A dark purple silk bookmark shoots out of The Doomsday Codex when it's first opened and wraps around the person's hand and arm. This bookmark has sharp edges that can slice the person open, deep enough that they bleed to death if this happens. After taking the Oath of Grace, all light in the room gets brighter and heat licks through the person's veins. Any pain felt by the person is intensified while their eyes go dark and Infinite Grace speaks to this person. Once Infinite Grace is done speaking, everything goes back to normal, the bookmark lets go of the person and will no longer harm them.

Accoutrements & Equipment

He has access to a stockpile of weapons laid into a secret room in Guardian Solace, put there by the Benedictine Monks when they still owned and used the monastery.   Access to special artifacts and relics thanks to the Frontier Pathfinders.

History

There isn't much history because while it it a rank that was written down in 500 AE by a monk belonging to the order of Benedictine Monks, it wasn't until 25 Solistice 3000 AS when Josiah Ward claimed the title and took on the duties and responsiblities of this rank.   No one outside the Vatican and the Benedictine Monks knew about this rank. Those who knew didn't think it was a rank that anyone would ever need to claim.

Cultural Significance

Whispers among the Vatican and the Benedictine Monks say that there may be an eventual need for a Guardian even they weren't completely convinced. The monk who had the visions and saw the coming apocalypse coming wasn't truly believed by his peers. Since they weren't convinced what he saw never got out to the public. But The Doomsday Codex was kept safe on the chance that the monk was correct.   Because the public was never told, and they, for the most part, follow the tenents of Eternal Harmony so they have never know what might be coming nor have most of them ever been scared enough to want or need the more immediate help of Infinite Grace that a Guardian provides.   Now that the apocalypse has started, the Guardian has become a beacon and light for the remaining Human race to rally around.
