Gath Organization in Beren'Dor | World Anvil

Gath

Colloquially known as The Empire of Gath, or just 'The Empire', Gath has risen to become one of the most powerful human factions in the whole of Mélamar, ruled by House Cadogan. Through the shrewd use of diplomacy and the liberal application of force, the Empire has quickly grown beyond the confines of the Golden Valley to dominate most of the middle lands of Mélamar.

Though the Golden Valley, as well as a few farming communities outside of the Golden Valley, produces a generous amount of vegetables and grain for both sustenance and trade, Gath is also known for its strong castles and abundant iron. It is through both economic and military might that The Empire has expanded its influence. House Cadogan, known for its ambition, paranoia, and desire for control, is always seeking to grow The Empire by securing strategic alliances and trade when and where necessary. Theirs is a harsh and unforgiving society built upon the ideas of Feudalism.

Note: The culture of Gath is influenced by the Welsh culture as found during the iron age. The names, towns, traditions, and beliefs reflect upon this.

Thedar

When the original Gathians arrived as refugees to the Golden Valley, they found it inhabited by a somewhat primitive species living in caves along the fringes of the Golden Valley. They exhibited a surprising amount of discipline, having an organized force of warriors that trained every day, hunter-gatherers that brought in food. Every facet of life was regimented, with each member contributing in meaningful ways. While their first meetings were tense, the Gathians and Thedar quickly became allies. When the Gathians began to build what would later become Ennesberg, the Thedar asked if they could join the Gathians. The Gathians, still recovering from their ordeal they endured while escaping from the Scorchelands were thankful for such kinship, and accepted. Now, Thedar are considered a part of The Empire. Their houses are also represented on the Council.

Thedarian Martial Might

Thedarian military units are famed the world over for their supreme discipline, having earned the reputation of never breaking. Their shield wall is nearly impenetrable by all but the largest and most ferocious of enemies. They are also known for their darker, more clandestine abilities, as it is whispered some Gathian emperor in the past undertook the creation of a shadowy guild of Thedar assassins known for their ability to strike suddenly from the shadow to kill their target before disappearing entirely. The veracity of these claims, however, has never been verified.
