Order of the Iron Cross

The Order of the Iron Cross began in the imperial city of Ennesberg when Emperor Medyr Cadogan outlawed the use of nathr, convinced that Gathian mages were conspiring to overthrow House Cadogan. Though Emperor Medyr was unquestionably mad, this was one conspiracy theory that proved true. House Pryde, notorious for its abundance of mages and its usage of the arcane arts to gain both power and influence, had managed to cobble together an alliance of several of the more powerful Houses of Gath in an effort to overthrow the Emperor Medyr The Mad. Their most powerful weapon in their arsenal were their mages. When usage of the arcane arts was outlawed, House Pryde believed their plot had been discovered, and prematurely launched their attack in what became known as the Arcane Insurrection. The fighting was brutal, and the loss of life on both sides were catastrophic until Owena Pryde of House Pryde was, by most accounts, given access to (note to self: finish this later.
