River
River Lorien Bennett Oralthis- Clark (a.k.a. Lori, Ben)
Circumstances of Birth
River Lorien Bennett Oralthis was born to Emily Clark and John Bennett, two skilled human warrior mages of Mechanis.
Her father would die during the Great War, while her mother would die during childbirth.
She would be adopted by family friends Eryndor and Vaelora Oralthis.
This family friendship was a bond of brotherhood forged through shared struggles, close battles, and mutual respect.
Their friendship had deepened until Eryndor was gravely wounded, losing a leg in one of the final battles.
In gratitude for John’s valor and for saving his life one last time, Eryndor would invite John’s wife, Emily, to stay with him and his wife while he recovered at home.
John’s death would not be confirmed until six months after River’s birth.
With River’s parents lost, the Oralthis family, already profoundly bonded to the Bennetts, took River in as their own.
Eryndor and Vaelora raised the orphaned child with great care and love.
Childhood
As fate would have it, Vaelora gave birth to her child just a month after River was born—a daughter named Lirael.
Despite the stark differences between River and her new Elven family, they were raised alongside one another, forming a complex sibling-like bond.
Vaelora, a master of combat magic, trained River to refine her raw, elemental power into controlled, precise combat magic.
Her daughter, Lirael, was taught similarly, but her magic was more attuned to the serene, nature-based Elven ways, contrasting sharply with River’s untamed abilities.
Eryndor, though scarred from his battle injuries, would teach them combat, tactics, and leadership.
He instilled the virtues of strength, discipline, and honor in them.
Yet, despite the love and guidance of her adoptive parents, River’s Ancient Humans bloodline could never be ignored.
Her rare magic, wild and primal, often felt out of place in a family so steeped in Elven discipline.
This inner tension between her raw, untamed magic and the calm, controlled Elven magic she was taught made her journey more challenging.
As River grew, the contrast between her and Lirael became more apparent.
While Lirael’s abilities were attuned to the peaceful Elven ways, River’s magic pulsed with the raw power of her human heritage.
She struggled to find balance, torn between the loving, disciplined teachings of her Elven family and the warrior mage legacy of her biological parents.
In time, River’s journey became one of self-discovery, learning to reconcile the two sides of her identity and honor both the Elven and Bennett legacies.
Through it all, River strove to carve her own path—one that fused the lessons of both families into a unique legacy that was all her own.
