Ancient Humans

The Ancient Humans are a new Variant Human, the natives of Ashara.

Despite everything they've lost over the millennia, they have retained many of the advantages of their genetics.

Namely their genetic modifications from the Age of Ancient Prosperity.

  • Immunity. You have immunity to the Necrosis Virus
  • Age. Ancient Humans reach adulthood in their mid teens and can live over two centuries on average and up to five centuries if they can receive genetic refinement or gene repair treatments.
  • Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet; unless you have gene specialization in DEX then it's 40
  • Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and up to two extra languages of your choice. Humans typically learn the languages of other peoples they deal with, including obscure dialects. They are fond of sprinkling their speech with words borrowed from other tongues: Orc curses, Elvish musical expressions, Dwarvish military phrases, and so on.
  • Ability Score Increase. Due to gene modification, there are two paths you can go down: generalist or specialist.

    This is the inherent potential of Ancient Humans.
  • Generalist. Your soft cap for stats is now 22; if a rule says "As normal, you can’t increase an ability score above 20 using this feature." or similar then it doesn't apply to you.
  • Specialist. You may pick one stat that your genes specialize in; the soft cap for that stat has a soft cap of 24; if a rule says "As normal, you can’t increase an ability score above 20 using this feature." or similar then it doesn't apply to you as long as it's for that stat.

    You get +2 extra stat points granted by this human variant on top of the standard human stats that you may apply to your specialized stat when creating your character.

    You have advantage when making saving throws for your specialized stat.
  • Recessive Genes. If you are half ancient human and half non-human, then the ability score increase rules do not apply.

    You must roll a D100 when in contact with the Necrosis Virus and if it's below 50, then you can be infected.
    This only applies the first time you come in contact with the Necrosis Virus .
