Life, Trauma/ Loss
Moments after the mast of the ship collapses Dorian immediately begins to yell at Tiamat about the fact he has suicide beads on him and that he used them on their ship.
Tiamat manages to calm the situation and turn Dorians' attention to help the crew now that the enemy is defeated.
Torgil, with Captain Liam's help, secures the enemy captain and begins applying medical assistance to the surviving members of the crew and his team.
After ten minutes, calmer hearts, and bandaged wounds; Dorian grabs the combat ready members of the Bloody Misfits to board the enemy ship.
Dorian, Tiamet, and Torgil decide to head below deck, while River and Vin secure the top deck.
River finds no living combatants and searches the captains quarters.
She finds:
Vin meanwhile, easily dodges a sneak attack from a barely living crew member; he beats him to death caving his skull in.
He finds:
He inspects the ballista; discovering them to be totally destroyed.
Below deck, Dorian, Timat, and Torgil finally see the Cannons, though they don't know what they are in their full glory.
Two of them are incredibly damaged, with the cannons bent from the force of the explosions from the Fireball Beads that Torgil used.
Next to them are the crushed corpses of their operators and odd scorch marks from some other source. (Black Powder)
Torgil moves to inspect the crew's quarters on this deck while Dorian and Tiamat move to the deck below.
Torgil discovers the mess hall and stows some of the nicer cooking tools in his Ring of Holding.
He encounters no living crew.
Tiamat and Dorian discover the cargo hold and no enemy crew.
They lightly search for anything interesting but find nothing unusual until Dorian moves to the next room and encounters the living cargo.
Tiamat and Dorian discover twenty prisoners bound in slave chains, quickly moving to secure them and get them on the Sterling.
Everyone regroups on the top deck.
By this point, twenty minutes have passed, many of the corpses on the merchant ship have been organized into piles, the wounded have been secured, and any able-bodied person is working.
River spots Captain Liam sending a raven with a letter.
He asks if she has the Message spell, which she does not.
They can expect rescue in the next few hours.
Four hours later... a Mechanis navy ship arrivesd
Captain Rukgar, along with some of his crew, board the Sterling.
Captain Rukgar inquires about the attack and how they managed to defeat the pirates of the Crimson Anchor.
He is informed that the Bloody Misfits are the ones who turned the tide.
With Tiamat, having caused massive crew casualties with his suicide beads and their team killing/capturing the important members of the enemy crew.
Captain Rukgar, Captain Liam, and Torgil move to have a private meeting in the Captain's quarters of the Sterling.
They go over the finer details of the encounter and discuss getting everything back to port.
During the conversation, a name is finally given for the Cannons, and they are informed that the Cannons will be requisitioned by the navy.
They will be compensated for this.
This leads to discussions of the other compensations that will have to happen.
Military Compensation
Merchants
Bloody Misfits and their surviving Hirelings
Sensing a massive headache, Liam recommended that they hand this problem to his banker, Cindroth, to solve.
Rukgar and Torgil agreed.
Rukgar coordinates his crew to get both of the ships moving.
It took them eight hours to get back to port.
As they finally pull into the port, they hear the enraged voice of the harbormaster, Ezio.
Rukgar and Liam, both hardened warriors, are practically shaking in their boots to the Bloody Misfits.
Ezio demands to know who damaged his ships, and while Liam does his best to explain he doesn't give a too clear answer to protect the Bloody Misfits.
Ezio, not being a fool, immediately detects the deception when comparing the damage.
"...Why is there Fireball damage alongside the odd hull damage, Cannonballs, who did that."
Seeing the captive, he boldly walks forward with no one daring to stop him, grabs the captive by the neck, lifts him off the ground with one arm, and demands that he explain.
The captive, with a lingering defiance, curses him out and spits at him.
At that moment, the veins in Ezios' arm bulge as chaotic magic power extends from him into the enemy captain's neck.
Ezio demands an answer while the captive screams in agony.
Having no reason to deny anything, the captive quickly sputters his answers.
Ezio, satisfied, drops the captive, looks to Tiamat, and says he'll talk with him later.
"...That went better than I though it would."
- Rukgar
Torgil is informed that they will meet at the bank noon the next day and that the Bloody Misfits will also need to show up at the church to assist the necromancers with their summoning ritual since they are the ones who killed the new batch of corpses for the most part the day after that.
With the current business settled, they split ways.
The ladies would head off to quickly find an inn and get some rest before tomorrow.
River would notice Elinor crying under the covers of her bed.
Torgil would head off to find Ezio and try to convince him to help torture their captive for information.
He instead met an attendant and booked an appointment for noon tomorrow, with the attendant believing that he was just another person who wanted to meet Ezio to commission the creation of a ship.
Tiamat, meanwhile, would try to find a magic shop or any other shop to restock on supplies.
He was unable to since they were all closed and would move on to find an inn and end up finding the same in as the ladies by coincidence.
Vin instead would decide to help unload and move the corpses to their final destination.
As Vin neared the church, he observed the stained glass windows, seeing the imagery of a crusader knight striking down an undead.
This stirred up a magic power within himself that then quickly faded.
