Dorian
Dorian
Backstory:
Dorian grew up in a small coastal village where his elven mother worked as a healer and his human father was a fisherman. His early life was shaped by the balance of both cultures—learning patience and the ways of nature from his mother, and the practical skills of survival and craftsmanship from his father. Though he always felt connected to both sides, there was never a true sense of belonging—he wasn’t quite "elven enough" to fit in with his mother's kin, and not "human enough" to be accepted fully among his father’s people. The call of the sea, with its independence and freedom, eventually pulled him away.
As a young man, Dorian worked aboard several merchant ships, learning the ropes and proving his worth. His calm demeanor and quick thinking during tense situations made him a natural leader among the crew. By the time he crossed paths with Liam "Sterling" O'Malley, he had already earned a reputation as someone capable of handling both the rigors of the sea and the complexities of ship life.
Liam saw something in him and offered him the position of first mate aboard The Sterling.
Dorian accepted, not just for the promise of adventure, but because he respected Sterling's vision and leadership. Under Sterling's command, Dorian has flourished, both as a tactician and as a leader. He remains Sterling's trusted second-in-command, fiercely loyal but always a step behind in terms of spotlight.

Intellectual Characteristics
- Calm and Collected: Much like a seasoned sailor, Dorian remains unshaken in most situations. In times of stress—whether in battle or during a storm—he can keep the crew focused and maintain order. His leadership style is quiet but firm, and he prefers to resolve issues before they escalate.
- Thoughtful and Observant: Dorian is an excellent listener, observant of the nuances in conversation and action. This makes him an invaluable ally in managing the ship's crew and navigating political or business deals.
- Loyal to a Fault: He may not speak often about it, but Dorian has a deep sense of loyalty to Sterling. He knows that without Sterling, his life would have been far less exciting—and possibly less meaningful. This loyalty extends to the crew as well. He sees them as family, and it shows in how he looks out for their well-being.
- A Quiet Leader: Unlike Sterling, who shines in social settings, Dorian prefers to lead from the shadows. He does his work efficiently, often quietly directing crew members or handling conflicts behind the scenes. When necessary, he can take charge and give orders with clarity and authority.
- Emotionally Reserved: While he cares deeply about his crew and the ship, Dorian doesn’t wear his heart on his sleeve. It may be a result of his elven heritage, which often values calm stoicism, or perhaps it's a way to protect himself from the emotional turmoil of his past.
- Loves the Stars: Dorian often spends quiet nights on deck, gazing at the stars. His elven heritage gives him an appreciation for the night sky that goes beyond mere observation—he might even feel a spiritual connection to the constellations.
- Minimalist: He doesn't carry much with him—just a few essential items. His simplicity extends to his personality as well. He doesn’t need much to be content, and he finds joy in the little things—a calm night, a good meal, or a well-run ship.
