Oralthis

“The world thinks we bent the knee. Fools. We took their hand — because the Oralthis do not conquer, they commit. And in their stubborn grace, we found a future worth shaping together.”
Matriarch Selyra Duskshade

The Oralthis family is the ruling lineage of the elven nation of Oralthis. As one of the first elven bloodlines to appear in Ashara, they are steeped in tradition, magic, and quiet influence. Known for their commitment to unity and cohesion, the Oralthis family is both a symbol of elven identity and a central force in the nation’s politics and magic.

They are not just a family — they are the nation itself.

Origins and the Duskshade Union

The family is composed primarily of Light Elves, but a major turning point in their history came with their strategic union with the Duskshade Dark Elves. Publicly remembered as a reluctant but necessary marriage to unify elvenkind, the truth is more calculated: the Oralthis and Duskshades coordinated the alliance from the beginning.

This union produced children capable of wielding both light and dark magic in balance — something unique to their bloodline.

Though the Duskshades remain culturally distinct, they are permanently intertwined with the ruling structure. The heirs of each generation must marry a Duskshade, while all others may marry freely, even outside the elven race.

Governance and Authority

The Oralthis family rules directly. They:

  • Lead courts and command armies
  • Set national magical policy
  • Serve as diplomatic heads of state

Succession is based not on birth order, but on demonstrated life experience and proven responsibility. The heir must be capable, not merely born into privilege.

Philosophy and Power

  • Their core values are unity, balance, and long-term cohesion
  • Their magic reflects this: light and nature magic, with Duskshade-born children balancing light and dark
  • They reject internal titles except in formal political settings — humility and function take precedence over ceremony

The Oralthis have no sacred relics or exclusive artifacts. Their power is institutional, social, and magical, not bound to objects or prophecy.

Perception and Reputation

Other nations view the Oralthis family through a fractured lens:

  • Mechanis and Ironspire respect their conviction, but monitor them for signs of weakness
  • Some see them as manipulators, others as idealists
  • Most agree they have held elven unity longer than anyone thought possible — and that their greatest threat lies within

A betrayal from the outside can be resisted. But one from within? That would collapse the entire structure.

Known Secrets

The greatest secret within the family is this:

The union with the Duskshades was never reluctant. It was chosen.
For political safety, the family has allowed the myth of a reluctant alliance to persist.
