Corpse-Walker's Inner Council - Gilded Doom
Wealth lets you get away with anything - even murder.Once a middling noble from an unremarkable merchant house, the Gilded Doom made a terrible bargain to join the Exterreri for reasons only known to few. Where other wields dread like a sword, she uses it as a scalpel to cut out what is most dear to her victims and makes them dance to her tune. While her methods are not as theatrical as flayed corpses or talking skulls, it is no less effective. When she meets the other Exterreri, she wears a gold-plated skull mask. Gilded Doom is a skilled politician and acts like the Corpse-Walkers fixer. She uses fear, bribes and favors to make things happen. In her domain among the wealthy merchant elite of Mharaji, the Gilded Doom lacks for nothing except purpose.
The Gilded Doom works in circles of power and influence, fixing deals and selling decadence to the wealthy. Among the Exterreri, she is called upon when more subtle means than brute force or grisly dread is needed. Through a combination of fear, bribery, and the favors of merchants across Mharaji, the Gilded Doom makes things happen and enforces the will of the Corpse-Walkers council. Other than Three-Skull, she has the fewest Bones, most of who are occupied with moving merchandise for her many deals.
Such merchandise is typically slaves or narcotics, the latter of which Gilded Doom indulges in herself. She sometimes spends days locked away in smoke-filled dreams, watching and waiting for some greater purpose to reveal itself to her. Gilded Doom works directly with Marrow to produce the hard-to-get ingredients for his experiments. Such things usually come from unknown parts of the Inner Shell or from the Far Deep, and Gilded Doom is on good terms with several teams of Kaia. None of them knows who she really is or who they are really working for, and she has yet to give them any reason for misgivings.
Among the Dead
Grandmother Death thinks of Gilded Doom as an adopted granddaughter through careful manipulation. It is a dangerous game played with the old hag, but it has afforded Gilded Doom a great deal of benefit. Should the Grandmother ever discover the deception, there's little telling what she would do. Gilded Doom thinks little of Stitcher and fears Three-Skulls.
House Daitau is the only merchant family where the Gilded Doom has no sway and will do no work. Whether their incestuous bonds of kinship makes them impossible to manipulate or if they are the enemies she is running from, only she knows.
The Corpse-Walkers Criminals and mystics, the Corpse-Walkers is a criminal syndicate fueled by dread and the powers wielded by their inner council. They leave the bodies of the slain at the doorstep of their relatives, still speaking the will of their slayers. They are feared even by other criminal gangs as dark and wretched; this fear is the weapon they've wielded to carve out an empire of sin. Read More About The Corpse-Walkers

Cold, calculating, politician-esque crime lord, named Gilded Doom? Fantastic! I really appreciate that she seems detached from the world, with how she takes no pleasure in her success. Makes sense that she uses her own supply of narcotics, something that crime bosses are often shown to not do. Gotta feel something I guess? Or as you put it, wait for the greater purpose to reveal its self. Only one thing stood out to me as worded a little bit weird:
It took me a second to realize that Gilded Doom had manipulated Grandmother Death into thinking of Gilded Doom as an adopted granddaughter. I'm not sure the best way to make it more clear -- just that I stumbled a little bit, reading this section. Could even just be a me-problem. And, as with all the other Corpse-Walkers -- I wouldn't want to meet her. :PThank you so much :D And you'd be surprised how many criminals end up sampling their own stock - and it never ends well for them. Haha. I'll think about some way to rewrite it! Thanks for pointing it out :D
