Half-Elves

Half-Elves are a species found on Apa Axas, and are a mix of Humans and Elves. Due to the strength of Elven genes, they tend to resemble their elven parents. Possessing both the elegant beauty of an Elf and the imagination and curiosity of a Human, the Half-Elves are an increasingly common sight in modern times, as the mixing of species has become more and more accepted in much of Apa Axas. Humans, being the most fertile of mortal races, can easily produce viable offspring with Elves, and these offspring are usually gifted in both agility and wit. These Half-Elves are often born into royalty, with many unions of Human Settlements and Elven Cities have been forged with the marriage and consummation of a wedding. With this lavish upbringing, as well as their natural charm, Half Elves often have more opportunity than other races, usually becoming diplomats or politicians, or utilising their magical prowess to go into wizardry, and their unstable genetic code means they are more susceptible than average to sources of Sorcererous Origins . Despite their growing ubiquity, a small stigma still exists against them by the older flock of Elves, who disapprove of mingling between species, although it is nowhere near as prominent as the hatred towards the Half-Orcs.

Civilization and Culture

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Half-Elves often live in the communities of other races due to their small number, and may often try to pass as full Humans or Elves, depending on the specific location, as to prevent any unfortunate encounters with bigotry. However, some Half-Elven communities exist, particularly in more metropolitan kingdoms such as Regigalis or Kthombru, and these communities have often become cornerstones of the Kingdoms they are present in, as the mix of human ingenuity and Elven intelligence is a powerful combination. For example, some Half-Elf communities located near areas exposed to The Feywild have utilised their fey ancestry to create the Bardic College of Glamour, while others have tapped into the power of their Most-Favoured ancestries to create the Oath of Ancients, and are the Paladins most likely to follow this ancient tradition. However, many more live far away from societies to escape the hatred of other races, living lives as Rangers or Druids .   This need for solitude has gotten many Half-Elves excited to visit the island of Lucidity, particularly the Half-Elf and Half-Orc sanctuary known as The Confound. Although this tropical glacier is said to be the work of Channus, and a location of some evil magic, many pilgrims who seek it simply don’t care. Channus, much like them, is a half-race and is unlikely to belong, so the Half-Elves often find themselves exonerating him, although many may refuse to believe the cult is dedicated to him, or attempt to hide it from everyone, even themselves. Whether Channus will bless or curse them has yet to be seen.
