Half-Orcs
Half-Orcs are a species found on Apa Axas, and are a mix of Humans and Orcs. Too brutal for human settlements and too puny for the Orcish strongholds, the rare humanoids known as Half-Orc face a life of ostracism, envy and anger as they are often overlooked by both of their ancestral routes. While Half-Orcs bear most in common with their Human relatives, the slight green tint to their skin and overlong lower canine betray their Orcish linage. Not that most Half-Orcs mind, however, as many are more likely to embrace their Orcish strength of body, will and endurance to become powerful warriors amongst the weaker races, earning respect through fear, just as The Orcmother would or by using a combination of their Orcish strength and Human intuition and imagination to become master blacksmiths, working in temperatures too high for most mortals and allowing them to create more powerful weapons and armour.
Civilization and Culture
Culture and Cultural Heritage
Hardiness is a point of pride amongst the Half-Orcs, and they often revere overcoming hardships. Many taverns that cater to Half-Orcs will be rife with loud bragging about how terrible their life to with one another, forming a bizarre game of one-upmanship. They are equally likely to become Bards, producing bawdy songs about how awful they have it, and are almost universally considered terrible, even by other Half-Orcs. However, they are still widely enjoyed for their energetic and comedic performances.
History
Many Half-Orcs started to appear after The Great Horde of Sangroke Bliss rampaged across Apa Axas, although this is thought to stem from many instances of forced sexual assault on The Most-Favoured by the Orcs. Why only the Orcs produced viable offspring from these events is unknown. As such, many Half-Orcs are seen as “mongrels” by other races, being seen as too weak for the Orcs and too savage by other races. Half-Orcs born to Orc parents are often abandoned for this perceived weakness, and Half-Orcs born to human parents are often discarded for image purposes. As such, Half-Orc communities are often scarce and xenophobic, formed in distant and remote locations where others are simply too weak to survive in such conditions.
