The conquest of the Armorican Peninsula by the Emperor of the West, Magnus Maximus, paving the way for the formation of Briezh.

Following the Tear, the Empire of Tarif, which had spanned all of Letha and the Mor Kreizdouar fell into chaos as the reality of Bedouar unraveled, magik pouring into the world along the Gaoithe Sidhe.   The capital region around the city of Remus was destroyed, reduced to the chaotic mage of jagged canyons known as the Shatterlands. Massive tidal waves infused with magikal energy and uncontrolled Wyldstorms wreaked coastal settlements from Outremer to Albia, warping the Ar Mor beyond recognition. Massive volcanoes erupted from the ground and earthquakes toppled cities.   More devastating than the physical destruction was the underlying damage to reality itself. Settlements and people ceased to exist, while others sprang up in their place. Historical records and infrastructural connections no longer lined up as tiny differences across the Empire piled up. In the West, under the cover of the Feth Fiada, the Tuatha de Danaan came on ships cloaked in stormclouds, while The Erlking rode out of the Forests of the East.   Control of the crumbling Empire fell to Emperor Valentian I, who lay on his deathbed in the city of Lupino, in the Golden Sea, having been grievously wounded in his escape from the capitol. He was succeeded by his two sons, Gratian and Valentian II, Gratian began his rule by organizing the remains of the army to meet the Erlikng's invasion, marching northwards across the Meneziou Gwenn. This left the West vulnerable to attacks from the Courts of Summer and Winter, which overran much of Albia, alienating the Imperial remnants who were abandoned by the Emperor.   Into this precarious situation stepped Magnus Maximus, the Great Usurper, a skilled general of the Imperial army and the governor of Albia. Located at the edge of Imperial holdings, the region had been devastated by Wyldstorms, forests springing up overnight as the chaotic magic corrupted the land. The manifestation of the Fortunate Isles in the previously empty Mor Bras placed the Tuatha within striking distance of Albia and its vital trade routes.   Their pleas for Imperial support unheeded in the face of the Eastern Campaign, the garrison rebelled, declaring the popular Magnus as emperor. Magnus, with the aid of his Albied ally Conan Meriadoc organized a mass evacuation of his supporters, setting sail across the Mor Breizh for the Armorican Peninsula intent on continuing southwards to seize the new capitol in the Golden Sea.   Acting as the vanguard for the invasion, Conan marched on the disorganized forces of the local governor, capturing and executing him, forcing his scattered followers to swear fealty to Magnus. With Armorica secured, Magnus arrived from the island, his Northwest flank secured, to continue his march, meeting Gratian at Liyon and easily defeating the Emperor's weary forces and assassinating the Emperor himself.   Fearing that the Tuatha would turn their eyes on the continent and with Magnus's full support, Conan launched a brutal purge against fae and magical influence, killing, Fae, Boermerzh and Milliget in mass executions. Magnus was killed in battle and Conan declared himself the King of Dumnonia, abandoning all pretense of Imperial trappings. Imperial control in the North was finished.   With Magnus dead, Conan grew increasingly paranoid of Fae incursion, believing those around him to be enchanted or Changelings. He ordered the tongues cut out of all women in his kingdom, lest they be used for Arkane or the spreading of heretical teachings. This earned the Kingdom the grim Moniker of Llydaw, the half-silent. This was matched with a brutal military campaign against local tribes and imperial holdouts, securing his control over the peninsula and the South of Albia.   Upon his death, Conan divided his Kingdom between his two sons, Gadeon, King of Dumnonia, who was to control Albia and Gradlon Mwar who was to rule Armorica.   Gadeon and Gradlon. Gadeon was given the territory in Albia, while Gradlon was granted Armorica.
