Young Gods

Young Gods are created from a convergence of divine energy and intention. All divine energy originates with The Primeval Gods in the Void, and flows into the World through the Old Gods. When the latter were forced to retreat into The Firmament, they channelled their energy into the damage done by the Colossus War in an attempt to heal it. Instead, the energy pooled in the winds, and the resulting 'clots' became the first Young Gods.
These Creator Gods were born from the Old Gods' intention to heal the world. They were there to watch as the work of the Old Gods fell, and they set out to do better. They created their Mortal Lineages to aid in this task. Later gods were given their initial shape by the needs of the mortals in the vicinity of the place where they formed. These were the Culture Gods, who sought to create bonds by meeting the needs that created them.
Some of the Young Gods worked together in harmony, others at odds to one another, all shaping parts of the world to their own design and fashioning their own races in imitation of the Titans. They continued to tinker until the Draconic schism cracked the world apart in the horror of the Cataclysm, and the bulk of the gods retreated to the Firmament, swearing to work only through their worshippers in future.
The Young Gods were many, and some were stronger than others. Most of those that did not simply fade away after the Cataclysm eventually found common cause with other gods to form tribal pantheons, and then as tribes combined, the similar gods of different pantheons became combined in collective identities with many names in service to larger and stronger cultural bodies. Ultimately, the stronger gods supplanted the lesser, but with a few striking exceptions, gods do not die and so they all remain, striving to secure a pre-eminent place through their bonds to the mortals of the World. They are nothing if not adaptable, and over time they become who and what their worshippers need them to be.
Their position outside the Web gives them the ability to see some of what will be, as well as what was and is, and they often act through their chosen to try to influence events to prevent or ensure the futures they have seen.
Although most of the gods were created soon after the Colossus War, the process is still ongoing.
