Southern Sea
[...]As I was looking at the Golvageth's Library Color meter, bleeding Blue and Black on the streets below, the screams coming from the docks started. The waters of the Southern Sea were disturbed. One of the Azure ships was currently pulled down into its depths. It disappeared in a matter of seconds...Blue. Blue is both the color of the sight and the illusions. If its concentration in the surrounding area is higher than normal, it can enhance one's ability to perceive or cause hallucinations. If there is too much of it, it can cause permanent damage to both the land or living beings by oversaturating them. So it's no wonder that the waters surrounding the continent are impossible to traverse. There are 4 seas surrounding the continent and the one known simply as the Southern Sea is the one most accessible thanks to the small number of battles involving Colors that happened here in the past.
Full of life
While the sea is completely oversaturated, there are many beings living there, Some are resistant enough to the effects of the pure Color to go through their entire life without succumbing to it. Some, like Azure Kelps outpace the oversaturation with their fast growth. But the overwhelming majority consists of beings that were warped by the Color. A few of them come from the surface.[...]As soon as the ship vanished below the surface of the water, the water started to foam and boil. The Blue fumes, similar to the ones that form Blue Clouds, began to rise up. A black shadow showed up, swimming closer and closer to the surface. I had to do something...
No light
The Color concentration of the seawater is so high, that no light can pierce through it. And yet, if one submerged their head (really unadvised) in the sea, they could see through it as if it were evenly illuminated no matter how deep. The calmest of the four
Out of the 4 seas surrounding the continent, the Southern Sea is the calmest one. The storms are a rarity, the tides come and go regularly, and for the most time, the surface is pretty even. Even the Blue Clouds form here rarely. If not for the monster attacks and everpresent danger coming from the proximity to the Blue, living here could almost be considered pleasant. The deep
Not far from the shore, in the place where the reef ends with a cliff, another, dark part of the sea begins. It is easily recognizable, forming something that looks like another sea, formed completely out of pure Black within the sea. Even with the protective suit equipped, the Black waters seep out the strength of the beings that touch it, pulling them deeper and deeper. And yet, there are stories of beings that live in those depths. Beings that are capable of ignoring the negative aspect of the Black.
The opening quote is really intriguing, I was immediately pulled in! Great article, this sounds like a fascinating place :)
