Vúltans

The vúltans1 are a human tribe inhabiting southern Ytis in northwestern Adynía, specifically the area east of the lower Jál river and along the southern bank of the upper Vúrin river. Their territory borders those of the Narkrans beyond Jál to the west, Vaþrókans to the north, Jórans to the east and Dóans to the south, and Black Strait to the southwest.
Like jórans, their main settlement of Úþras at the mouth of the river Jál was originally founded by ancient Góalanics from across the sea to the southwest to ease trading with the natives.
During the chaos that reigned during the orcish conquest of Góalanis, the vúltans -already known for raiding neighbouring ytean coastal settlements- began attacking orcish ships in Black Strait, in part motivated by the góalanic population in Úþras as well as to gain riches as trade had been disrupted by the war. However, over time the shift towards the latter goal has led them to become less picky on which ships to attack in the area, and vúltan pirates are now the most infamous both in the seas north and east of Góalanis and along the coast of northeastern Gysikan.
