Royaume du Terdiore

The Royaume du Terdiore is located on the western half of the Trystire Peninsula. Its capital is the Port City of Havere. It also contains the Serpent Sands and the Seat of the Nomadic Kingdoms, Jalwarat.

Structure

The Royaume is controlled and ruled by its capital Havere - The Crystal Port. Every non-nomadic city must abide by the laws and customs of Havere. Municipal issues are generally handled by local authorities although grievous issues like insurrection, mass murder, and serious trade violations can be overtaken by the state.   The Nomadic Tribes maintain an autonomous political region within Terrdiore. They have the rights to make their own laws and customs and enforce them with their own standing military as long as they do not contradict those of Terrdiore or frustrate the agenda of the state. In times of war, the Nomadic tribes are expected to contribute to the defense of the state and to pay taxes for the maintenance of the roads through the desert. This uneasy peace between the Tribes and the Havercois have lasted for over 200 years.

Territories

The Royaume of Terrdiore is has claimed all of the lands of the Tyrstire peninsula West of the Ridgeback Mountains. This includes the ancestral lands of the nomadic tribes of the Serpent Sands with whom the Royaume have a mutually beneficial political arrangement.

Religion

Havere - The Crystal Port holds the largest temple dedicated Olastra, and as such, Havere is considered to be the seat of the Church of Olastra and claims the church as its state religion. However, membership to the Church and faith in Olastra is not compulsory, and in fact, the state of Terrdiore holds a policy of freedom of religion which has fostered the spread of more unusual non-traditional Havercois religions in the state. Recently The Church of the Spirit has appeared in the city, much to dismay of the Olastran priests.   The Nomadic Pre-ascension people anciently worshiped Mulin, but since the Ascension, the worship of Mulin has been outlawed. Since then, the nomadic people have tended to worship either Imix or Melikki although because of the influence of Havercois caravans in their towns (and the relative peace with the Havercois for the past two hundred years) the worship of Olastra is also prominent.

Foreign Relations

Nomadic Relations

Large political changes occurred between Havercois and the Nomads in the 2800's that made way for free trade through the desert. Following the infamous Battle of Blood Creek, the Desert Armistice was finally signed 2825 AA ending formal military conflict between the Royaume du Terdiore and the Nomadic Kingdoms. Forty years later in 2865, the Trystire Military Alliance was formed to combat the Duergar threat to Ironmar. When the Elysia left the alliance after the conclusion of the war, the Nomad elected to stay in order to better secure the Serpent Sands.   Finally in 2919, after many years of negotiations, the Nomadic Kingdoms were formally annexed into the Royaume but as an autonomous self-governing region. They now share citizenship and resources. The political relations between the two peoples have never been better although many individual citizens still hold old animosities towards one another. Proof of this was the appointment of Abed Moreau to the Trade Council of Havere by King Pierre de Mer VII, the father of the current monarch.
