Melikki

Melikki is the Goddess of the natural world - the world before the existence of mortal beings on Aasha. It is said that she is the oldest of the Deities who sprang forth out of her sister the Primal Goddess Mulin, and was the first to embrace and protect the oldest of the mortal races. She personally expelled Mulin from the forests of Aasha during the War of Ascension and tamed Mulin's ferocious beast allies.   According to the elves, who consider themselves the first of the mortal races, Melikki taught them to use the bow and provided animals to hunt; Melikki taught them to identify edible plants from the forest and made them grow in abundance. As such, all Elven nations worship Melikki as one of their main Deities, and pride in the Goddess's lessons in self-sufficiency.   Melikki represents a balance in nature and in character. There is a time for violence, but there is also a time for peace. Hunt and take when needed, but restore and conserve things to how they were.   Melikki also, being the oldest Deity, is also the de facto patron of history. She records the world's history in the rings of trees, the worn paths in grass, and in the striations in the mountains. Melikkin believe deeply that destruction of what came before leads to the doom of what comes next. Consequently they greatly value preserving and collecting history and knowledge. Melikki like Baeduu is resistant to quick impulsive change.   Melikki is also associated with illusion magic. It is said that a double rainbow after a spring rain or the dancing lights in the Southern Sky on a cold night are good omens from the Goddess. She is known to play tricks on those who trespass in her sacred forests with strange mists and noises that lead them to danger.

Nature's peace be with you.
The followers of Meilikki believe that nature and the world around them is a divine gift from the Gods that should be tended to and preserved. They believe that while mortal have dominion over nature, nature should be respected and protected from harm. Generally worshippers of Meilikki tend to be those who work with nature or use nature (especially plants and animals) for their livelihoods. They respect animals and try to protect Aasha to preserve it for future generation.   Many followers of Meilliki express their devotion by refraining from eating bugs and animals (although it is not forbidden). Others cultivate large gardens, and others tend to nature paths or tend to animals. No matter how people choose to worship Meilliki it always has a spirit of harmony, preservation, and self-reliance.

The animals are given a feast and week of rest from their labors. There have been rumors that at times, during these rituals, the animals are given the gift of speech by the Goddess.

Personal history

During the Werewolf Attack of 4824 in Garrett's Valor, it appeared that Meilliki fought against Mulin in wolf form and was defeated. In order to preserve what power she had left, she stored some of it in magical medallions that she gave to a group of adventurers for their protection. Since that day her influence in Aasha has waned.
