Werewolf Attack of 4824
In the Autumn of 4824, the town of Garrett's Valor was attacked by werewolves. It was later discovered by a group of adventurers in the area that the entire event was staged by a local Sage named Sage Taggert. Taggart guided by the Old God Mulin created a two-part serum/treatment that would make anyone immune to disease by giving them the "gift" of lycanthropy. To help him in the conspiracy, Taggart recruited Artur Pendragon by convincing him to give him the "gift" of lycanthropy.
Research began first on the local rat population, but when some of the rat subjects escaped Taggart's castle, the experiment soon turned into a real human experiment. A small boy in Garrett's Valor was bitten by an infected rat and almost became a wererat. He was discovered and saved by a group adventures/pilgrims in the town when they administered a silver potion created by the wife of Bobink Steamfizz just before his first transformation.
After news of this reached Taggart, he quickly developed a way to distribute the serum to the general population through the air. He had already released the priming agent - a fever into the town, now he just had to administer the reaction agent. So during a fire/wolf attack, Taggart enlisted Artur Pendragon to steal an artificial cloud maker from Bobink Steamfizz. He rigged the machine to create a dense fog made of the reagent and released it into the town.
Those villagers who had already shown sign of the primer immediately turned into werewolves upon inhalation of the reagent. All throughout the night, these werewolves recked havoc on the rest of the town killing dozen and infecting hundreds.
Those same adventurers who had found the wererat boy, figured out Taggart's plan and went to the castle to confront him. There they battled Artur Pendragon and gravely wounded him. They then fought Taggart who himself turned into a werebear. When Taggart got the upper-hand on the adventurers, he escaped with Artur's half-dead body in tow.
The next morning, the town ruined from fire and the attack of the werewolves had a meeting. The adventurers having cured the boy using Steamfizz's potion decided to administer the same potion to the town. They had already experimented on known werewolves, and they knew that if a person had already turned, they would die a terrible horrifying death if ingested. Although the administration of the potion to the entire town would result in killing many of the town denizens, they decided that the price was worth the result as those who remained would be free of lycanthropy.
Two-thirds of Garrett's Valor perished that day. Many not even given a chance to say goodbye to their loved ones. Others having seen what it did to some refused to drink and ran away from the town.
