The Holy Republic of Elysia lays in the Eastern Half of the Trystire Peninsula. Its capital is of the same name, Elysia
Structure
Historical Government
Originally, before the War of Ascension, Republic of Elysia was a city-state theocracy ruled by the Church of the Moon. The the church and settlement was to protect the worshippers of the young god Tsuki. When the War of Ascension broke out and the legendary City of the Sun Oro was destroyed, the refugees, Church of Light, and the remaining Sun Paladins of Ravi sought asylum. The Church of Light signed the Elysian Pact and swore to protect Elysia for the remainder of the war. When the war concluded, the Pact was changed to allow the Priests of Ravi to participate in the administration of the city. It was during this time that hundreds of refugees displaced by the war with the Old Gods came into the city. Sometime later the six other churches of the Eight signed the Elysian Pact. The pact reserved that the representatives of the Church of Light and the Church of the Moon be the official head of the government called the Protectorate. The Protectorate plus a representitive of each of the other churches of the Eight would form a legislative body named the Pantheon. As the capital city of Elysia grew more settlements in the surrounding area wanted to be part of the state. Every new annexed township was required to choose a patron God of the Eight. The head of the local temple would serve as the local representative to the capital. The regular day-to-day business would be handled by a political leader of the town's choosing - usually a mayor. The churches with the largest number of patronized villages and towns are the Church of Light, the Church of the Moon, and the Church of Meilliki.Post White Poppy Revolution of 4824
During the White Poppy Revolution of 4824 the Hand of Ravi was murdered. The Protectorate declared Marshall law in Elysia and temporarily dissolved the city's Voice of Man. With the Commander General of the Elysian City Guard a prime suspect for the murder, the Sun Paladins were given the responsibility of policing the city. Under these new temporary conditions Elysia has been running as a theocratic dictatorship.Territories
The Kingdom of Elysia claims all of the land on the Trystire Penninsua between the Southern Sea and the Ridgeback Mountains. The Camdyn Divide is the natural border to the North
Military
The Sun Paladins of Ravi provide the main military force of the Kingdom. However, because of the Elysian Pact, every church of the Eight except for the Church of the Moon must provide a force to protect the Kingdom of Elysia. To this end, six other smaller branches of military are under command of the Paladins:
- 3 squadrons of Hippogriph Lancers from The Church of the Spirit
- A circle of druids supported by the Church of Meilliki
- A Platoon of Pugilists supported by the Church of Baeduu
- A small river navy supported by the Church of Olastra
- A company of catapult and trebuchet maintained and operated by the Church of the Eternal Flame and the Church of the Knowing Eye.
Religion
Elysia is one of the few countries without an official religion - all religions are welcome in the country. As such all of the eight major churches have operations in the country. By far the largest are the Church of Light and the Church of the Moon. The Church of Meilliki is the third largest with the majority of the followers living in or around Elysia's densely forested areas outside the capital.
