O,
I don’t know if this will ever reach you, but I know you’re out there somewhere. I hope you’re doing well and that you’re in a good place.
For the longest time, I never knew why you did what you did. You sacrificed yourself, your wellbeing, potentially even your future for me. The hopeless fuckup of the family. And yet again, you paid the price for my mistakes.
I never understood why you always stood up to me when the other noble children would mock and insult me. Why the preened, pampered and pompous princess of our nation would head off to join the army in my place. When you came back, you still protected me in every single way you knew how, and even several you didn’t. When I fucked up the most, and risked my life, you still risked yours to save me.
Ever since then, there’s been a fierce look in your eyes. The look of someone who would sacrifice everything if it meant the world could be happy. But the only thing that would make me happy is for you to return home. I miss you more than anything in the world, and I’d give anything to see you safe and home, and to take up the mantle I never deserved.
I hope and pray to all our ancestors, and to mighty Kah himself, that I’ll see you home soon. May the winds carry you safe, and the sun shine forever on your path.
