Betrayal

by Syrus

Finally, somewhere that resembled home. The fresh sunlight pouring down on me, and the hustle and bustle of a busy Solen city reminded me of my youth as a young bird strolling around Heliopolis. But unlike those days, I had a mission to do - helping my people against the Phrat'ii invasion happening the following day.

While some of my companions returned to the Phrat'ii camp to set up and ambush, I endeavered to help those who stayed behind - Ko, Mura, Zyanya and Talu - with a shopping trip while I found out more information on what the Solen were doing in the plains.

The Solen were apparently protecting a sacred egg - of a golden dragon who once roamed the plains back before the extinction. This was enough of a shock, but what they planned to do with the dragon egg was worse.

Soul Magic. The binding of the ethereal soul of someone into another, entangling them together. Not only is it risky, and permanent, in many faiths it is considered abominable. But they planned to entwine the soul of this young dragon with the soul of none other than the ancient Solen Creature of Mayhem, Kah. This would be done to bring about peace, justice and security to a new Solen empire.

Before I had the chance to interpret this information, Mura had me cornered and a knife at my throat, demanding answers to questions never asked to anyone else in the group. I gave back the most basic of answers, completely calling her bluff while Ko and Zyanya watched on, refusing to help.

Further, Mura suggested we steal the egg, not even waiting for my approval before discussing a plan with the others. I nodded along, since taking the egg would only help me get answers later down the line.

After successfully stealing the egg while me and Talu fought off the Phrat'ii, we all met up with the rescued Nakah to escape the town. I took a hit to the face from the Phrat'ii leader, who had the soul of a white Solen, but Lucid had his chest cut open and was not likely to survive. We barely made it out of Dahb, before Lucid collapsed and we took him to rest in Maya.
