Session 48 - Janger, Mirrors & Dreams

Just outside of the town, is a thick sturdy wall surrounding the town made of some weird patchwork metal.
To the river on one side, to the coast on the other. Big large metal doors closed.
Tall tower in the town off to the right.
There's a hatch in the door that opens up after Raskin knocked on it. A pair of green eyes looks through after opening the hatch and asked us what our business is in Janger. Asked if we were looking to trade or sell. We said maybe but not sure.
Sea green metal pointed spear. Well built looking elven man, 6ft, 6ft 2. Not any kind of elf we've seen before. Skin a light pink, paperry webbing between fingers.
Elf calls himself Min'Sel
Best of to stay at The Calico Inn as they tend to have rooms available.
 
Although I haven't been to Janger before, I can't help but feel a little nostalgic with the ocean smells and breeze.
 
The Calico Inn a tall 3 story building, with bleached wooden white walls.
Inside is empty, likely due to the late hour of the night. Tending to tidying up is a Tabaxi who's called Zay Patience. Austar gives him 20 gold for the rooms and 5 more for some wine. We head up to our rooms on the top floor. As we're getting ready for bed, Austar telepathically tells all of us there's a hostile creature directly above them, in the attic maybe?
Austar and Malaphor investigated the attic and discovered a shattered mirror with the missing pieces no where to be seen as the source of the enemy detection wand.
 
During the night I awake to a commotion happening in the other rooms. I see light coming from the menagerie box. As I start to go down, there's a massive lightning storm. I cast Protection from Energy on myself and wake Ape up. I notice a thin strand coming from the top of the box connected to me, as well as one to Ape. His lighting jumps to it and follows it upwards. Then a large lightning clap and a twisting feeling in my stomach and thrusting me backwards before everything goes dark.
 
I don't see any of my companions, I'm in an unfamiliar to me.
I find myself on a platform of slate stone, in an old stone looking room. I see a few different doors, surrounded by twinkling lights of gold.
 
In my room, in the top left corner is a thick red substance seeping from wall.
Box, two little handprints on it indented into it. I place my hands in the indents, and the seams in the box open up and a mote of light floats out of it and hovers in front of me. If I remove my hands the mote goes back down.
 
What ends up being a long puzzle, we start to figure it out. The boxes we've been interacting with open doors if you activate the box on the other side. I found a secret passage behind some damaged walls which I knocked down. While we're trying to figure out the rest of the puzzle, the gargoyles come to life for some reason and start attacking us.
 
We killed 3 of the gargoyles and hear some rumbling. We track back and see a door open and a large spiral staircase going up, but 3 statues in each corner of the new room, one of which is larger than the others.
