Request

If a large map has many pins, then the zoomed-out map is a mess of pins. It would be cool to be able to manage it by having the option to set a pin's visibility level.

For example, if I have a map layer called Cities where I've stored all of my city/town/etc labels, it would be stellar to have it only show a handful of important cities when I zoom out, and when I zoom in all the other city titles appear.

If my map has a max zoom range of -1 to 2, then here's how those pins might look:

  • City: Zoom Visibility -1 to 2
  • Town: Zoom Visibility 0 to 2
  • Landmark: Zoom Visibility 1 to 2
  • Major Street Names: Zoom Visibility 2 to 2

Of course, this has more applications than for cities and streets, but it is a feature that's mighty helpful on other digital maps (such as google maps) for keeping the visible content de-cluttered, and I'd love to be able to do similar in my maps.

Would be amazingly helpful. However, the only reason its 100 rather than 300 is purely because although I would use it consistently, the implementation would be a hassle and not sure if its a priority yet.

I think this is a great idea. I love World Anvil’s map pins, but I default to only using polygons over descriptions built into the background which is INCREDIBLY TEDIOUS purely because the crowdedness at a farther zoom makes WA’s pins illegible. This would help a lot. And since they are set, I think this is a perfect way to utilise zoom levels.

I would find this to be greatly useful because pins can make the maps so cluttered. If this would be added there would be more order to say in maps.

This not being a feature is one of the main reasons I don't like or use WA maps. After I get 100+ pins on a map, it becomes a mess.

Would definitely be useful, especially for locations that a lot of worldbuilding has been done for, resulting in dense markers. I'd especially like the ability to have certain markers, like pins for Nations or mountain ranges, to go away once you are zoomed in far enough.
