Might I also suggest, swiping through text edit boxes for prompts/sections rather than scrolling down might help the mobile experience because the article edit page can be super lengthy, even when blank.
Making a page more accessible for all kinds of devices/users is always my number 1 priority! Go-Go Gadget UX.
I know sometimes when I am out and I have an idea on something, or during my lunch break at work I feel like adding to a page I've been working on I try to use my phone and would like it to be more mobile friendly.
World Anvil on mobile is an absolute nightmare. Anything that can be done to make it even remotely viable needs to be implemented. I think it's honestly rather bizarre that the WA team are okay with allowing the site to lag behind so badly on mobile.
If I'm busy and can't get to my laptop it would be nice to use the site on my mobile.
While I have gotten used to working the current sidebar as is on mobile I do admit there is room for improvement.
A significant part of my use of WA is on mobile at work on a lunch break. Having improvements to the editing side of the mobile version of the site would be extremely useful and appreciated. As it currently stands, my phone screen is held in portrait mode, and the side bar which pops up on almost every screen takes up two thirds of the screen. All the content on the right hand third of the screen is practically unreadable in the editor. In addition, the page must be scrolled all the way to the top in order to open and close the sidebar.
Would love this! I’m on my tablet as I write this. It would be nice to see more improvement for mobile users.
Would be great to be able to use this on my tablet and phone better as I use them frequently.
I needed to use my phone for adding something to my world for the first time just a few days ago. I wasn't able to. It was just too small and scrolling sideways wasn't possible.
Honestly, the site is horrific on mobile. Even on my iPad Pro it's just not viable to use it. I think the layout needs a significant overhaul for a mobile experience. What form that takes, I am not quite sure. It needs to offer rational space to get at important settings. I would say the menus should all be pop out/overlay, the editor needs to be refined, hell maybe the editor should be a pop-up on mobile so you click the button for the major text field you want to edit and the editor loads full screen then? It's not an easy area to set things up, but I do have players who contribute articles (and struggle to do so on phone).
In pre-COVID times, when I was commuting, I used Scrivener to write while on buses and trains, and could make it a productive time. Would love to be able to do that with WA manuscripts, which I’m using now on desktop instead of Scrivener.
I support the idea of making World Anvil easier to use on mobile devices, or having a way to do so.
A mobile or ipad app would really elivate this tool above the others.
I really want an optional app for windows /linux/android that syncs with the website
I rarely have time sit down at my desktop, though I regularly find myself with a few minutes to spare that I could spend making quick entries on my phone. It would be much appreciated to have a dedicated mobile interface that we could use to jot down the ideas that we get when we're out and about. Bonus points if y'all make an app, cuz that would be friggin' sweet.
Many of you may recognize my relentless crusade for World Anvil to display well on mobile. Some new features happen like this. Wow look new, hey Dimi can this format different for SM and XL? It would be interesting to gather a handful of WA peeps as a kind of mobile suggestion unit. So we could give Dimi already ironed out solutions that he could vet and implement. That may be an easier transition than just saying hey can you shove WA in a small rectangle about 400px x 600px. Some areas that were an initial struggle on the presentation are calendars, timelines, diplomacy webs. The rest of it is just the break points and beating it with a CSS stick. On the edit side a massive step forward would be having the Euclid editor support mobile screens android, iPhone. The really awesome feature set does not play well with mobile. And the screen real estate with an onscreen keyboard is really tricky. Most of the features that received a drag and drop upgrade completely disabled the ability to interact or edit them with mobile even on tablet sized screen. So anyway ya All in
I'll throw my weight behind this, I'd love an app for phone but that is probably asking too much, but greater functionality with mobile would go a long way, especially Manuscripts
I support pretty much any endeavor to make the mobile experience better. I frequently access the site on my phone, on the go. The World Anvil team should take it as high praise, I can't put their platform down! I would like to shamelessly plug my own suggestion which is to also address another touch interface improvement. https://www.worldanvil.com/community/voting/suggestion/5070c58c-4238-4837-9d7d-8791df37c029/view
I do alot of my editing on the go, so easier control of the editing and article creation process would be welcomed.
